I’ve had a few requests for April/May Study Groups…March will be here before you know it.

In order to take an early April exam, you should begin studying…now. 🙂

CPAmomma – Yes at FMV for the asset and the corresponding credit is considered “gain on reciprocal transfer”. Recognized on I/S.

It's A–It's like a gold mine. There is only so much gold that can be extracted.

@JRosen–I'm so confused. If the donated property is a nonreciprocal transfer then why is the JE “Gain on reciprocal Transfer”?

A company using the composite depreciation method for its fleet of trucks, cars, and campers retired one of its trucks and received cash from a salvage company. The net carrying amount of these composite asset accounts would be decreased by the

A Cash proceeds received and original cost of the truck

    B Cash proceeds received

C Original cost of the truck less the cash proceeds

D Original cost of the truck

Just to be sure regarding the units-of-production? Is the answer declines with use or over time?

It declines with the use. You start out with total production possible and as you extract/use up units, the asset's service potential declines. If you had a copier that only has a service potential of 5,000 copies, the sevice potential declines with every copy made, whether it takes 1 day or 1 month.
