How many letters do you needParticipantNotAQuitter- you can always ask your own question and if it's specific enough it should be universal across study materials. It seems we have a pretty good group here this quarter, I think most of us will take time to answer a question even if we aren't on that topic anymore. It's actually beneficial because it helps keep the old stuff fresh so feel free to ask away!

How many letters do you needParticipantPower week continues! Wrapped up wiley mod 9 and half of inventory last night, finishing up Inventory on lunch and taking a bite out of fixed assets tonight. Goal is to finish up fixed assets this week to leave review and leases/bonds on Sat. Who's working hard out there??

AnonymousInactiveI should get in an hour or two tonight finishing up Statement of Cash Flows. Assuming of course that my children cooperate at bedtime. That will be 3 sections down since Sunday. Whoo hoo! I just need to jump on the WTB and start quizzing, but I did do 90% of the MCQs and SIMS from the Wiley book after each section. Love Power Week!!

jen123Participant@Goingtobeacpa – Wow, 2 1/2 legal pads is a lot, but if that works for you then that is great. Maybe I am doing too few notes. :/
Yes, power week although I think I need to step up my power. I did not study again today at lunch. I will finish about 45 minutes of lecture tonight and possibly get started on Module 16 Investments. My goal is 9-11 tonight. Yay, can wait, haha!

How many letters do you needParticipantNicely done CPAmom. Those of you with kids out there I commend you. I think of how hard it is without kids and it blows my mind. Don't know how you do it all but I know your going to make a hell of a CPA. Jen – the rule of thumb is the person who suggested power week can't slack! 🙂

jen123Participant@howmany – That is a great rule! Now where is that oilgas? She is the one that suggested this crazy power week.

AnonymousInactiveIf I had it to do over again I would have done this immediately after getting my MBA, but I was ready to make money then. 🙂 Little did I know I would be back in school 7 years later and studying while pregnant and with newborns, but they motivate me. I may have given up if I didn't have them as a reason to do this for. @jen–You and I are on the same timetable tonight. 9-11. Anyways–hope to see many of you on here for motivation tonight!

AnonymousInactiveYeah! Oilgas–how is your power week chugging along? I just now saw your post about being frustrated yesterday. It will come together if we keep pushing. What are you working on currently? We can talk through some of this stuff if you need it.

How many letters do you needParticipantHaha Jen oh that's right it was oil gas! All this mid day inventory combined with Del Taco has made me sleepy..
CPAmom- The path you took is the one you've got:) I'm about a decade removed from my MBA as well. Wish I would have done this a bit sooner myself but that's one reason I'm pushing it hard this year…life has a way of making fools out of forecasters…
Ill be around tonight ready to kill fixed assets! Oh how did it go with cash flow? I have some treasury background which might be of assistance if you get stuck…

oilgaslbMemberI'm here, I'm here! 🙂 Last night I listened to my audio on the way home, and went through flashcards from about 9-12. This morning I listened to audio from F1-F3, and just finished a progress test. Didn't do super well on it though (63%), and I'm going through the right answers as we speak. I plan to squeeze in 1 more progress test tonight, then move on to F4 tomorrow (writing notes/flashcards).
I'm finding that if I take it 1 day at a time, it's starting to become a habit and it's not as painful to work through. I just get frustrated when I think I should know this stuff, or it doesn't stick. Here's to one day at a time!

holycow_75MemberI will be checking in periodically tonight from 9-12 Central. I'm working on Inventory & Fixed Assets this week. I will start doing some MCQ's tonight – so it may be panic time!!!

AnonymousInactiveI may have to switch to Fixed Assets after Statement of Cash Flows so I can get in line with you guys! @holycow–Don't panic just yet. We have a ways to go and lots of support before we hit freak out mode. 🙂

GabeParticipantHello all,
I raised my score from 50 to 70 between November and February. I am going to tackle FAR again in April…any suggestions on what to focus on? Last time I really drilled government and known weak areas, but now I'm at a loss…
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

F15hyMember@gabequinn, are you using Becker? If so, these are the areas I focused on. I hope this helps:
F1 – Standard Setting, Income Statement, and Reporting Requirements (100 % of MCQs)
F2 – Matching (Rev & Exp), Foreign Currency Accounting, and Other FS Presentations (100% of MCQs)
F3 – Marketable Securities and Business Combos (100% of MCQs)
F4 – Working Capital and Fixed Assets (100% of MCQs)
F5 – Leases, Liabilities, and Bonds (60% of MCQs)
F6 – Pension and Income Tax Accounting (50% of MCQs)
F7 – Stockholder's Equity, Cash Flows, and Ratio Analysis (Glanced through)
F8 – Governmental (100% of MCQs)
F9 – NFP (50% of MCQs)
F10 – Fair Value, Partnerships, VIEs, AROs, Liabilities, Contingencies, Subsequent Events, Financial Instruments, IFRS vs GAAP, and Liquidations (Did not look at)
Plus I sprinkled in the NINJA notes and audio and did about 100 MCQs in the WTB.
