I’ve had a few requests for April/May Study Groups…March will be here before you know it.

In order to take an early April exam, you should begin studying…now. 🙂

Interesting. I woke up thinking of how to calculate tax deferred liability. This approach definitely helps retain information.

For those who are in the final review process, how are you guys handling the SIMS? As of right now, I'm really only focusing on the MCQs and progress tests. I may set aside a couple days just working through SIMS, mainly the comprehensive ones that I think are likely to be tested on the exam.

    AUD - 01/18/14 - 81
    BEC - 05/29/14 - 85
    FAR - 07/18/14 - 81
    REG - 11/18/14 - 80

Spartan – I am in the same situation. I didn't focus much on SIMS and the advice I got was to go through some of them (at least the important topics) at least once to familiarize. I plan to spend tonight and party tomorrow going through SIMS and journal entries. My exam is next Thursday so I don't have much time. I'd rather focus on MCQ's.

Just because I was curious, I took that AICPA practice exam on their website. Is that a joke or something???? I mean I know its only 5 MCQ's and a few SIMS, but I can't see the exam giving those easy questions.

@Spartan–I practiced all the SIMS in the WTB as I was going through MCQ. It definitely wouldn't hurt to get a look and feel for how they may ask the SIMS on a real exam, but I will say that I am 100% sure the WTB SIMS are way easier than the real SIMS. Use your AL on the exam!

@Brooklyn–The AICPA release questions are easier than the review questions too. I have done 2006, 2012, and 2013 and I didnt' get them all right because I did them while I was studying but when I get to the review I expect I won't miss many. There are approximately 50 per year. I believe the review is designed to be more difficult to prepare you better. I also think that is why so many people post that their progress test from their reveiw courses score lower than what they get on the real exam. I think it's good to practice them because people have stated that you will see AICPA release questions word for word on the exam, but don't go into it thinking all the questions will be that easy.

I think practicing some sims would be a good idea. I had the exact inventory sim on my previous test that I miserably failed. I am sure I got that one correct. So it won't hurt to take a look away.

Hey I am on the AICPA site, how to find the practice questions? Maybe I'm missing something.

I don't know about the practice ones, but for the release ones I just googled “AICPA FAR Release 2013”

oh ok. thanks. Would it matter to stick with 2013, should I go back a couple of years?

Yeah, I will definitely go through some of the SIMs again, at least on what I think will be the important ones (leases, bonds, etc), just so I can familiarize myself with them.

@Cracked how are you doing so far? Next Thursday is just right around the corner!

I went back to 2006, but just doing the last couple of years should be fine. You'll see some of the questions repeat over the years.
