I just started studying FAR for the first time and already I feel like it is sucking the life out of me!!! I just finished the second lecture and started the multiple choice, which is really kicking my butt and I’m losing self-confidence. Any advice on how to study? I usually work through the problem and if it’s wrong figure out why and keep a notebook of “study tips” or little statements that I should remember (ie: Record loss when it happens, defer gains). Any advice would be greatly appreciated 🙂

that's why I bought Becker Final review for all sections – it really helps to get all the info organized… we'll see about FARE though:-)

Anyone who has taken FAR and used Becker…

I have never taken a course on non-profit and gov't. accounting. I understand it is 20%. Did Becker adequately prepare you for these topics? I have Wiley too that I may use as well.

I feel the same way about FAR. It is driving me crazy. I have two weeks and 2 days to wrap up studying for this exam…which I hope is my last part, pending AUD grade to soon be released. I live and breathe Becker.

Thanks for the encouragement. I actually sat for FAR 3 days ago and my head still hurts. I felt my exam was just as hard as Becker's after the first tablet. We'll see what happens in 3-4 weeks when I get my score.

Dear FAR Motivation Folks,

I feel like I am really far a long studying FAR until I realize that I've only done 7/20 of the Bisk chapters. Taking the exam 1/15. Is anyone else in Philly studying for this? Or for another part of the CPA exam? OR ANY OTHER TEST?! I wish I had a study buddy.

I am available most (if not all) nights and weekends.

All-I thought this one was such a nightmare to study for, but just keep working at it and plugging away at all the multiple choice ?s you can get your hands on. I used Becker and supplemented with the Wiley book to get even more MC questions. I ran out of time on the exam and had 2 impossible simulations (on which I basically only completed the written communication tabs), so my advice to you is FINISH THE WRITTEN COMMUNICATION TABS if you are running out of time. I left 3 out of 4 tabs blank or blindly clicked on accounts on both simulations and I got a 91. So, don't leave the exam in tears like I did-your hard work WILL pay off!

i agree with shaina0707. Spend the time on the MC. I ran out of time on the second sim but did give 10 mins out of 20 mins on the second sim to communication. FAR is too important not to spend an average of 2 mins per MC question.
