    So I took FAR yesterday and came out feeling like it was a pretty tough test. I felt okay about the MCQs I had one medium section followed by one that seemed pretty hard, followed by a medium/maybe hard section. Then I started the sims and I thought they were really challenging. They were more difficult and different than all the Becker ones.

    Did anyone else feel this way? I need some encouragement…especially if I'm going to turn this around and do my final review for Audit.

    @CEOCPA – I felt exactly the same way coming out. I practiced a ton of the Becker simulations and the ones on the actual exam were insanely difficult. Most of the questions were harder than Becker questions, and the wording was harder to understand.

    F - 83 (1/2/12)
    A - 88 (5/8/12)
    R - (5/30/12) Waiting game
    B - 80 (2/5/12)

    I just got out of the exam this morning. I have been studying nonstop for two months with Becker and felt that the exam was REALLY hard. The SIMS were more difficult than Becker…to the point that I even had trouble with the research tab. I definitely feel really discouraged right now. When I came out of AUD and BEC, I felt pretty good. Not so much today. I don't even know what to do differently if I need to retake. I felt like the exam tested on everything Becker taught only it was all significantly harder.

    At lease I take comfort in that others felt the same way.

    B - 80 8/26/11
    A - 90 7/2/11
    R - TBD 5/?/12
    F - 84 1/3/12

    @leonina and marcielee

    You both took the words out of my mouth, sounds like we all had the same experience!

    The scores are based on how the entire population did. I'm hoping that there's a bunch of people who slacked off during the holidays and didn't practice any sims at all being graded with us 🙂

    @CEOCPA

    I am hoping for the same…I got 74 last window, I guess everyone was studying hard to pass the test before the holidays, and before starting with the crazy work load that is coming during the first 3/6 months of the year 😉

    Done 😉

    Just took FAR yesterday and everyone's explanation above mirrors my experience almost entirely. My MC testlets were Med, Hard, Hard—and my simulations were completely out of left field. I clicked through all seven hoping to complete a couple of the easier ones first and after clicking through all of them, felt completely hopeless. I filled in all the tabs for each task but can't help but feel that I'm facing a 74 when they release the scores.

    I honestly feel the same way about FAR! I just did my retake in Jan 3.

    I feel like I studied my hardest and longest for FAR and the test on Tuesday seemed impossible.

    Last time when I got my score “break down” from failing..i got “stronger” in every area except my sims in which i scored “weaker”

    I just dont understand how people pass leaving sims blank!!!??!

    BEC 2010 - 79
    AUD 2010 - 94
    REG 2011 - 79
    FAR 2011 - 72; Jan 3, 2012 - waiting on score

    I am so glad I came to this forum because everyone's sentiments above mimic mine almost to a T so I have been able to recover about 2% of my self esteem. I just took FAR for the first time yesterday, and never have I so strongly felt the urge to up and leave in the middle of a CPA exam. I killed myself studying for this test yet I left feeling like a complete failure. My testlests were hard, hard, harder. My simulations were unbelievably insane. I didn't encounter any of the simulations I practiced with Becker. I am quite discouraged, also questioning how I am supposed to study this material again more so than I did this time around.

    for those of you guys struggling with the sims- is it because becker does not cover this material, or is it because you have not seen a question like this from becker and therefore you are confused?

    @palal9923

    Most of my sims were on material that Becker did cover, but just not in as much depth as the sims asked for. Because I thoroughly studied Becker, I knew enough about the topics to make an educated “guess” on that parts I wasn't certain about. However, I did have a simulation on an IFRS topic, and as far as I know, Becker doesn't present any examples of sims under IFRS.

    that sounds scary – sims over IFRS material

    I officially hate EPS. I have never had anything in the whole FAR book go more over my head. Any suggestions on supplements?

    B 71 - 79 EXPIRED
    A 69 - 75 EXPIRED
    R 65 - 48 - 45
    F 56 - 61 - 65 - 64

    Becker, Wiley Test Bank, Wiley Text and Ninja Notes

    Experience - Done, like WAAAY done.
    Still need 30 more credits, in basket weaving (gotta love new CA requirements)

    In the process of studying for FAR I am having tons of problems grasping pensions. The questions may as well be written in French as far as I'm concerned. It seems like it may be somewhat lightly tested based on the fact that Becker doesn't have very many questions on the topic (only 19 in the 2011 version, not including the supplemental questions). I am considering just focusing my energy on the other materials and playing the guess lottery on any pension questions I receive on the actual exam (taking it on 1/17), but then I'm worried about getting a sim on pensions, so I'm not sure if that's a viable strategy.

    Any thoughts, suggestions, or words of encouragment on the matter, considering that I'll be sitting for the exam in just over a week?

    I'm sitting for FAR on the 26th and if I pass I'm DONE!!! I'm also using Becker but I've supplemented it with Jeff's ninja notes and also Wileys test bank. I use the sirage nmeuonic (sp.?) and it helps me to come up with the right answer.

    Good luck to you!
