Happen4reasonMemberDon't worry! You really never know what is going to happen. I was doing the same yesterday and then I just stopped looking up answers because your going to drive yourself nuts. I realized I got 2 questions in my first testlet wrong by the 2nd testlet unfortunately I couldn't go back and fix it. You can't dwell on things once they are already done. I too think I got some of those IFRS questions wrong. I could barely find what they were talking about but I'm pretty sure I got it wrong. And because I ran out of time I couldnt make one of my sims “work” either eventhough I could have got it if I had more time. I guess lesson learned really study IFRS, and move through the MCQ more quickly to have plenty of time for the Sims.

AnonymousInactiveThanks Happen! I am driving myself nuts! 🙂 I only had 55 minutes for the simulations and didn't finish one and one of the research tabs was wrong for sure! I am hoping for the best… but, I am pretty sure I failed! I hope you passed! 🙂

REG - 89
FAR -66,73, 80

BEC -67. 80October 2, 2011 at 7:29 pm #375461
tigersinghParticipantI know what you mean, first time through them it takes a loooong time, but dont let that discourage you, because once I went through them once, going through them a second time was A LOTTTT faster. You will get the hang of them. Just because you are taking long right now doesnt mean it will be the same on the exam, so dont stress!
@ Cat and Happen or ANYONE ELSE lol
My exam is on friday and was hoping could review IFRS better, do you have any suggestions as to where I can study for IFRS easily? I got the Ninja Notes and I have Becker but I dont know if they are enough. I also dont have a lot of money to buy much else. Do you know if there is something online that I can use that will help or something?
Thanks!!
AUD Expires 06/30/15
BEC Expires 06/30/14
FAR Expires 12/31/14
REG 06/30/13 Expired (Pass to become CPA or fail and lose BEC)October 2, 2011 at 7:40 pm #375462

If you use Google, the Big 4 have some published guides on U.S. GAAP vs IFRS differences. I think EY has some good charts in theirs. These are in way more detail then you'll need to know for the test, but just look through the compare / contrast charts to identify key differences and implementation requirements.

MM23ParticipantI'm using Yaeger now and finished the lectures just about finished the assigned MCQ's, I have about 23 days till my exam..whats the best use of the time I have remaining?
Last time around I found that I ran out of time on the Sims…I have the FAR Cram videos, should I go over those or just keep doing MCQ…
also should I read the wiley book, Phil says just to focus on the MCQ and the videos..after watching that Eric Thompson video I want to pass no matter what…lol
Thanks for any advice

AnonymousInactiveIf you have the Wiley book, go over the IFRS (last section in each module) to identify key differences / first time implementation requirements. Also, make sure you know your journal entries…that you would be able to write them from scratch (no looking!!) if needed on a simulation. Also, pick out any trouble areas that you might have (any MCQ that would take you longer than 2 minutes to solve) and practice those until you can solve them quickly = 1 min 30 to1 min 45 sec.

Soon2BCPA127MemberMy exam is this Saturday and i have yet to complete Chapter 9 of this FAR book. I went over the lecture with Becker Cds. I haven't had a chance to practice all the questions second time around. I wouldn't say i'm good with Bonds or different types of inventory valuation methods.
Any suggestions on how to go about preparing for the exam? This week I was going to take a few progress tests for two days and on Wednesday I was going to take practice final 1 and review my weak topics.
has anyone taken both of the practice finals that are on Becker CD? If so, do they help?
I'm also panicking at the same time – i feel like i may just have to go in thinking this is a practice exam – it just unbelievable that I couldn't cover chapter 9!

MinimortyParticipantOK, so you have five more days, right? What is stopping you from completing chapter 9? Government/NFP is approx. 20% of your exam. I would spend some time going over it.
I took both final exams and thought they helped. It just reinforces the concepts and gives you a sense of timing between the MCQ and the sims.

MOM2THREEMemberI have 3 weeks until the exam. I am only able to study one 8 hour day during the week, about 6 hours total on the weekend and then 1 hour 3 times a week at lunch and about 1 hour 4 evenings out of the week. I have gone through the Becker lectures and the multiple choice questions. I know I need to go back over bonds and inventory. I have not completed any of the supplemental questions.
Would it be more advantageous to go back through the supplementary questions or do progress tests? Are there certain chapters that I should definitely do the supplementary questions on?
The ratio's are ancellary material but I thought there were a ton of ratio's on this test. I know most of them but should I have all of them memorized?
I have heard that knowing the journal entries are important. Does this mean all journal entries in the book or are there specific subjects that journal entries are focused on? I am not asking for a response about someone's specific test. I just know that different study materials emphasize different parts.

Marivy22Participant@ Soon2B & Mom
I decided to change my test from 10/10 to 11/7…I am not happy about the decision, but I was scoring 60's on the progress tests. Not an easy decison for me, I have spent 7 weeks studying for this test, and the material was not on my brain. I am now going back to chapters 3-7, not funny to listen to Peter or Tim again, but I rather take more time to study now, than go to the test center knowing that I was going to fail.
If you are scoring good numbers on progress tests, keep doing them. Identify your weak areas, and review those chapters again. I could not do that, because I was scoring under 75 in all ;(
For AUD which I passed last window, i did progress test, both final excams and added Wiley at the end. I guess your speed will improve once you feel comfortable with the material.
As for the J/E i read that CAR-IN-BIG was one of those to memorize……….
Done 😉
