Im in CO and the FAR score was up last night.

As to study plans… USE BECKER! Concentrate on the MC and if you can do the MC you can get through the Sims. I must have aced the MC bc I left one communication and one research blank. Also, some of the sims had info that Id never seen before. I thought I failed but in the end 81.

kroyal – I just signed up for BEC (#5…) and FAR (#3) this morning. I plan on taking BEC again at the end of october and then FAR end of november. I passed REG on the first shot, but lost credit for it in April since I couldn't get past BEC. I still have AUD but that expires in Feb so I really need to get it done by Jan to make sure I pass! I've been using Becker, but never used the Final Review. A friend of mine has been using Yaeger for all his courses so I'm going to borrow that for BEC to see if that helps!

Passed all four with Gleim multi's only. 4,000+ for each section.

I used Becker and did not find their "Final Review" to be helpful at all. It just restates all the info from the regular books that you should already know is important. Drill through MC till your brain bleeds and you'll be fine.

I do here Yaeger cram is good, though have not tried it.

cutypie. I've used Becker and Becker's Final Review for all 3 i've taken. Expensive, but it got me the end result 1st time. Using Becker for Audit too, and an buying the Final Review for it today. if it ain't broke, don't fix it. If you've failed a section, change materials.

Northern Illinois University has one of the best CPA review products out there. https://www.cpareview.niu.edu/

Plus their passing rates are way above national rankings.

66 🙁 I guess I should be happy considering I didn't even get to do the last 4 chapters of Becker materials. 1 down, 1 to go, and 2 to re-try.

    Good luck everyone.

I studied hard for FAR but I didn't get to finish the exam. I'm a very .. very slow test taker but I knew a lot since I studied a lot. The end result .. 88. I felt defeated after leaving the exam, the same way I felt after leaving the BEC exam (I wanted to quit and I haven't studied for my next part at all in the last month (which i was completely free, not working)) .. but I past both (88 + 84). Getting lucky has something to do with this exam. Also, you don't have to do 'that' good to pass.

If you failed, your a little more studying away from passing .. go for it.

Finally passed my final test, FAR. All in the first try! 🙂 AUD-85, REG-83, BEC-84, FAR-78! haha.

Anyone know how long it takes for that little piece of paper to come in? I need that piece of paper to apply for my bonus!

For those of you who passed FAR… I sit in a week and was wondering what last minute topics you feel I should really focus on during 'crunch time'.

Also, does anyone know any hot topics going on in the industry that the exam might test?

I haven't seen it on here yet but I will give a shout out to Gleim. I just passed my last part (FAR) with an 84. Passed each part the first time I took it with the Gleim books and question software only. Gleim is all-inclusive and dry, but good nonetheless. Basically, I would read the 20 study units and highlight while reading through. Then, I would go back and reread all my highlights and do several questions for the study unit I just reviewed. Once I complete the entire review process, I focus solely on the questions. I finished the book the week before the exam and my review process the week of the exam. I also work full-time and have 4 children and a lovely, caring, and understanding wife. Congrats MOM of 5. I somewhat know how you feel. Has to be harder on a mom than a dad.

NJ Devilz – I realize that you probably didn't mean to come across this way, but I am shocked by the arrogance and condescending tone of your post. I think those of us who have failed in the past feel defeated enough that we don't need to read about how you think you don't need to do "that well" or how we just didn't study enough. Congrats to you for passing.

After having passed FAR, AUD, and BEC I'm convinced that it doesn't matter what materials you use to study as long as you study. I passed FAR with no DVD lectures or any simulation materials. I read the Becker FAR book (2008 Edition) and worked a ton of Gleim 2009 MC questions (you get well over 1,000 for like $60). When you're working MC questions it's important that if you choose an incorrect answer you know why its incorrect. Equally important is if you choose the correct answer, you know why it's correct. I'm not going to say the reading is exciting but if you pound through any cpa review book and a bunch of MC questions you'll pass! I have REG to go and then as Peter Olinto says "I'll be buying boats and fancy cars!"
