ParticipantMy strategy is to listen to the lecture then what you understood make notes and right away do the MCQs. I get more notes while doing MCQs because some points you get to know better by doing MCQs. Highlight the notes which has detailed info., go back everyday day to take a glance over it. Since FAR has lot of topics to cover, when you go back to review phase after finishing all lectures and MCQs the first chapter seems brand new and feels like you have never seen this chapter before. So I changed my strategy.
Also, even if the time is less always do at least 10-20 mixed questions everyday of the chapters you have done, before starting new one. It will stick more and doesn't feel strange in review phase.
BTW, I am using roger right now.

ParticipantHi guys. My exam is January 13 and I'm nervous. I am in school (doing my masters) full time and haven't started studying. How would you suggest I start. I have a little over 3 weeks. My only course is Roger. Should I skip the lectures and just do MCQ? My last final is Wednesday and I plan on studying 8-10 hours after my finals, daily until my exam

MemberHiya Ninjas!
I am awaiting my result in couple of days here and then most likely will have to be studying for FAR again.
Due to time constraint, I kinda skimmed over Govt/NFP/AND CASHFLOWS!!!!!!!, so I really don't expect myself to have passed it. Currently working a full time job in corporate accounting as a GL accountant and also working part time at another corporation as a data analyst. I don't have children or a husband- but have a puppy LOL. Props to you guys who have all the other obligations but I'm sure they can be the greatest emotional support at times.I also have a trip booked with 2 of my bestfriends and their husbands to DR on 1/17 for a week. I will be reading and studying during my vacation 🙁 but hey, any day out of the office, on the beach, studying, I'll take that.
Anyway, nice to meet you all and we can do this!! It's not matter of IF, it's matter of WHEN.
Hang in there!!!

ParticipantHoping for a Christmas miracle tonight but not hopeful. With that said does anyone know what review course prepares you better for the new DRS simulations. I already use Becker which is worthless for the DRS but great for teaching concepts and I also use Surgent, I thought their sims were better but my FAR exam in January had 4 DRS and I don’t know how you prepare for those beast. Please send suggestions….. I was thinking maybe Rogers?

ParticipantHi everyone!
I'm Ashley! I have been studying for FAR since August, I had to keep pushing my exam back because of my state's accounting department. I have finally received my NTS code and have scheduled my exam for January 5th.
Unfortunately, I have fallen into the trap of sitting on material too long, but hopefully I can knock FAR out on my first try. I have been using Becker and Gleim occasionally.

ParticipantHi everyone!
I completely bombed FAR 🙁 , but I will not let that stop me. I will PASS!
I just purchased Ninja Scout, but I am debating if I should purchase extra MCQ's from Wiley or Yaeger.
I have been using Becker, but I really don't like their videos and when it comes to their MCQ's, it was no where near what I had experienced during exam day.
Any recommendations? Which test banks are much similar to the CPA exams?
Thanks! 🙂

ParticipantHi everyone,
Planning to sit within the next month for FAR for the 3rd time, UHG! But hopefully 3rd times a charm being I increased 12 points.
For me personally, I found reading the book itself to be the most helpful for understanding the concepts.Good luck to everyone in their studies!

ParticipantHi What section did you take first?
I am hoping retake it in February or first part of Q2.
I wanted to take it in January, but lol I don’t think I can get my score up in time.
I am also going to tackle a lot more of the MCQ’s and SIMS.
I am hoping to get my new NTS soon so I can reschedule ASAP!
What study materials are you using?
I can’t afford to buy another review program.
I am trying The NINJA approach, which I really like so far.

Participant@Dying I have Roger as my main review and Ninja as a supplement. The Roger SIMs won't be any better. After taking FAR on 12/2 (and failing with a 72), I feel that Surgent and Ninja have the SIMs most similar to the exam, in both feel and content. I did find a discussion in another thread called Potential FAR Simulation Topics Straight from the AICPA that listed all of the topics that could be covered by SIMs by referencing the CPA Exam Blueprints as well as the SIMs related to those topics for both Ninja and Becker. I am going to use that as I tackle this sucker again. https://www.another71.com/cpa-exam-forum/topic/potential-far-simulation-topics-straight-from-the-aicpa/

InactiveI'm halfway through the Wiley material for FAR. Haven't received my NTS yet, but aiming for early February. Last night my husband and I received notice from our landlords that they are putting our house on the market and we have to be out by March 5. Moving was certainly not in our plans until I am done with the exams, so probably in 2019. We had also scheduled a weekend getaway in January to celebrate our first wedding anniversary, which we have now had to cancel because we will likely need that weekend to look for a place to live. I am going to try to attempt to keep up my study schedule and still take FAR in February, while also either buying our first house or finding another short-term rental, but I also might die of stress and no sleep in the meantime. Ok, just needed a place to vent other than FB!

ParticipantHi Everyone,
On December 8th I took FAR and just got my score last night, I sadly got a 71. I am planning to retake my exam on January 18th while the material is still fresh in my mind. Traditionally I have used Becker and am beginning to get frustrated with it. Therefore, I just purchased the NINJA Assault for FAR.
Jeff I found your video most helpful but I am unsure where to begin due to my current situation. Should I review all the notes I wrote with Becker, do non-stop ninja MC, rewrite my notes and then go back to the ninja MC and start with my weakest topic?
I refuse to fail again. Let's crush this together guys 😀
AUD- scheduled for 2/26
BEC- 76
FAR- 71, retake scheduled for 1/18
REG- TBDDecember 19, 2017 at 2:18 pm #1681934cpasoon
ParticipantNeed to cheer myself up for retaking FAR and REG. Seriously need to pass next time!!!!

ParticipantSuggestions needed:
I just found I didn't pass my 2nd attempt at FAR (in fact my 1st attempt score was 9 points higher). I am using BECKER and find it is good but don't know where/how to start studying.
If I start again with Ch1 it will take me forever to get through to Ch10 since I want to take the 3rd attempt CPA exam next month.
Who suggests Ninja program to supplement and which level of Ninja?December 19, 2017 at 4:53 pm #1682344cmckenzie
ParticipantFound out I passed AUD today — onto FAR, set for 3/5. I hope it's enough time while working/two kids/chaos. I am mostly using NINJA.. the audio is a lifesaver for me. I do have access to Becker until February, so I will use that to make some headway too.
Cheers to us all, and may we find time to enjoy the holidays.
