Hello,

I’ve been a long time lurker and just wanted to share my experience with my FAR exam. It was my first exam and I started studying about mid July. I wasn’t studying that often and skimmed through the material, but in the last 2 weeks I put in 100 hrs of studying and reviewing (I’m not working). The more I reviewed the more I felt like I was forgetting and did not feel ready at all going into my exam.

My 3 testlets seemed the same difficulty and I had a lot of short conceptual questions. Is it possible for the testlets to get easier? It seemed like it as I progressed which really discouraged me because I thought that meant I did poorly on the previous testlets. All 3 testlets also heavily tested on one same topic. Does that mean I kept answering them wrong so they kept giving me more questions on it? I had almost no really long or seemingly complicated questions, most were 1 or 2 sentences. I felt 100% on 2 sims, 75% on 2 sims, and 50% on the last 3 sims. I walked out feeling like I completely failed.

Sorry for the long post. I know there are tons of topics like this, but I would really like to hear your thoughts on this. I spent an hour trying to find the answer to this, but didn’t find much regarding the length of the questions.

I’m really sad and I hate FAR 🙁 lol

I think the difficulty of questions is very relative. A lot of people have passed with “easy” testlets. With that being said, hopefully u did pass, but even if u didn't think of this as a good experience for ur first exam. Try not to think about it, although I know how frustrating it is because it won't get u anywhere.

I think you did well. To be honest all 3 of my tests which I passed seemed very easy. It was a bear studying for them but I was always surprised how simple my questions were. Practice questions are usually harder than the real test. Good luck !

Hi watermelon! Welcome to the forums. I think you'll find a lot of support here, just as I have. In my opinion, getting the same topic doesn't necessarily mean you were getting that subject wrong. When I took REG I had the same 2x and I know 100% I got the answers right. It sounds like you did ok on the SIMS. Also, I agree with rana_cali, determining the difficulty levels of the questions from one testlet to the next is difficult. Just remember, what's done is done. You can learn from the experience or you can dwell on the experience. I know it's tough (I failed FAR), but it's what you need to do to keep your sanity. 🙂
