On my exam, all 90 MCs were pretty easy; however, it covered A LOT OF of materials, including significant amount of questions related to IFRS. 2 weeks before the exam I practiced all AICPA released questions from 2006-2013. “90%” of the MCs were very similar to those released questions. NONE of the MCs questions were tricky!!!! Also, I didn’t think my testlets got significant harder. Overall, testlets 2&3 had MORE “BASIC” calculation questions.

THEN, sims condemned me from heaven to HELL. I was confident about ONLY 2 out of 7 sims problems. The last hour of my exam I thought I was dreaming and literally saw stars at the comer of my eyes. I had 1 hour and 20 mins to work on my sims, and it was NOT ENOUGH. I spent a lot of time to read through the questions and sometimes questions I didn’t know how to start. I left one sim problem empty cuz I ran out of time….. I felt dizzy when I walked out the testing center.

However, I passed with my 1st attempt!!!! THANKS GOD!!!! (((cry)))) My suggestion for the FAR section is to go through ALL AICPA released questions as many times as you can for preparing MCs. I thought I had enough time for Sims, so I actually double checked all 3 MC testlets. That was my mistake!!!! I would suggest to finish MCs as fast as you can then leave at least an hour and half to two hours for sims. I am using Becker, and it does NOT prepare me enough for simulation questions. Knowing journal entries is critical! Good luck to everyone!

@vickyfan–I didn't pull the AICPA release questions for AUD, but I listened to the Ninja Audio every day and I used the Ninja Notes and the WTB. I skipped the lectures and read the book from front to back. I rewrote my notes and the Ninja Notes before the exam. Definitely know the different report types and GAAS. You need to know IFRS too.

I am using Becker self study, ninja blitz and Wiley (I am using the paperback version of the testbank)

    Brief overview of study method:
    1. Skim through chapter quickly
    2. Watch lecture videos
    3. Take a lot of notes on what the lecturers emphasize
    4. Complete half HW after lectures half after rewriting notes

to rvcpa….. Sims is depends on your luck. I am using becker, and 5 out of 7 questions were questions I have never practiced before. However, I managed to finished 4 questions, but I spent a lot of time just to read through the problems.

So, first of all, make sure you leave enough time for Sims, at least one hour and half – 2 hours. ALL my sims require both computation and journal entries, so know your journal entries for varies topics. Do the problems that you are confident first then go back to the ones you don't know. Don't stare at the computer screen of one question for 10 mins and skip to the next question. If you spend that much time on one question, mind as well to finish it! Well, you might have easy and straight forward sim questions like ONE of my friends did, but I guess I am just one of the unlucky ones like majority experienced…. @_@…. Just make sure you have enough time because when you read the question for a while, you will know what to do! Good luck

vickyfan62001- I took my test last tuesday and I know I did ok/well on the mcq's but my sims really sucked. I estimate I got about a 60% on the first one, maybe 30-40% on the second, got the research, maybe 30- 40% on the fourth and fifth and the others are a toss up so I am nervous.

to rvcpa…. That's how I felt as well… I BOMBED sims problems. However, I passed FAR with a score of 85. This was my first attempt of the CPA exam. Well, MCs is the 60% of the entire exam, so I was thinking I can get around 50% of the exam correct. Then, I only need 25 out of 40 of Sims to pass the exam, which I only need 62% correct on my sims in order to pass. Thinking 62% correct + one “pretest question” (it doesn't count for scoring)…… That makes me feel BETTER! I think you will pass! Normally the pretest question is either the research problem or the hardest question (I heard)!

I actually went on a 7 days cruise right after I took my exam. That really helped me to relax and get ready for next exam!

Also, honestly, no one knows how the CPA exam scored…. so don't think much of the %, just pray! Only wasting your time…. lol
