I just took FAR after about 2 and a half months of studying nonstop. I felt pretty solid about the MCQs and on about 4/8 SIMS – the problem is that I know I didn’t get the research SIM because it was in my last testlet and I was running out of time. I most likely got partial credit on the other three SIMS that I didn’t feel great about. I’m not really sure what to think even after going through this process for the other three exams. For REG and BEC I thought i definitely failed and passed, but I know I got the research SIM right for REG.

Can getting the research SIM make or break you? Just getting really anxious since this is my last exam – anyone else have an experience with FAR where they didn’t get the research SIM but still passed?

    REG: 84 (November 2019)

    BEC: 92 (March 2020)

    AUD: 85 (July 2020)

    FAR:

I think partial credit would be granted on the research SIMs. If you got the Sections right but the wrong paragraph you should still get 3/4 credit. It really depends if you were looking in the correct section or not when you answered. That being said, I think each SIM is only worth about 6-8% of your score so you should definitely be able to pass especially if you did well on the MCQ.

    REG - 91 (May 18 2020)

    FAR - 89 (Aug 24 2020)

    BEC - 95 (Sept 28 2020)

    AUD - 90 (Nov 12 2020)

The only research question I got correct was on my FAR exam, for REG and AUD I didn't end up finding the research. You just know when you get a research question right, and that wasn't the case for me for both AUD and REG. You can imagine all the yelling that took place in the parking lot after those two, but I did make it in the end. I don't think you can get partial credit for the research to be honest. I always felt great with the MCQs and horrendous with the SIMs after the exams just like you, so I like your chances. Good luck!

    AUD - 75
    BEC - 86
    FAR - 84
    REG - 78
No one ever fails the CPA, people only quit the CPA exam.
