What can I say or describe this feeling? From the first question of MCQ it seems doomed. The first 5 questions were wish-washy, I started marking flags and guessing. Then at the 2nd testlet, I had 6-7 MCQs in which I have no effing idea. So I randomly guessed

I randomly guessed as I’m not sure I have enough time.

I didn’t have enough time for review. My class group assignment kicked in, and these stupid assignments took a lot of time from me for review. I only reviewed 7 out of 20 Gleim chapters. One and half week after I did 73 in Gleim rehearsal, and my memory on the chapters I learned proved not to be so reliable.

I skipped one research question, totally had no clue, somewhat looked like R&D expense. I only had 1 hour 20 min left for testlet 5. I also suffered from the expense/capitalization question, as there was a SIM with a huge table on adjusting income statement items. There are some items where I had no clue to adjust or not and my mind says “screw it just give up” and I clicked “0” “0” “0” and moved on.

I skipped the scheduled break. My mind wasn’t right to take a break.

Screw it, I really want to give up rest of CPA at this point. What’s the point to continue on if I fail FAR? I need a drink.

Thanks guys for helping me with FAR questions. If I don’t see you all again, good luck on your CPA journeys. Peace out.

    FAR-80

    AUD-77

    REG-75

    BEC-82

There was one guy on here that did a s&*^ ton of analytics on the new CPA exam rolled out. He predicted 20 out of 66 questions would be remembering & understanding, or in my eyes, conceptual – no calcs. I have used the CPA exam blueprints to study for FAR and your experience aligns with the CPA exam blueprints although the Govt/NFP is the one that catches me off guard. This topic was hammered in Q1. There is definitely a handful of areas I am hitting harder than others based on blueprints but not getting too tied up in it because every exam is different and is based on your performance in first testlet 1. For SIMS, my strategy is to hit all that have JE’s and any accounting corrections/changes as well as any with the possibility of a DRS where you have to roll through several workpapers to prepare something. Studying by understanding the concepts vs doing over 2K MCQ seems to be more effective this approach as my scores are to par. We will see in 2 weeks from tomorrow how it goes but FAR is definitely a beast of an exam but its definitely possible to pass in the mid-80s.

@SiXiam thanks a lot for sharing. Many people said that Govt/NFP is no more hot topics but Becker's given 2 whole chapters on Govt Accounting.I am little anxious as NFP/Govt was my favorite topics.Other remaining topic of my interest is Consolidation and let us see if any SIM ( Car in Big ) comes up in my testlet.
I have noted down JE from Becker's and Roger's and practice everyday .I review literally 5 chapters of Becker's JE everyday.Hope this will bump my score for 3-5 marks.
I also prepare Income statements,BS,RE and Cash flows from Trial balance .Somehow I feel they will ask or give long TBS to prepare Cash flow etc.Hope to bump my score another 3-4 marks.
Reading GAAP codification guide with around ASC codes to solve Research question.(7 marks ).
I believe up to 75 every single mark counts and don't want 74 or 71 .

@TurbosandwitchedCPA ,All the best . Hope you come out with clenched feast saying “Yes I nailed FAR”.

    @SIXIAM
,Could you finish all SIMs ? or what percentage you think you could do ? Any SIM from left field I mean so long that you are unable to decide which topic it is referring to ?
Any more advice ? What material did u use ?

I finished all the sims and used every last minute to do it.
If you mean what percentage I think I got right, then I'm not sure. A few were really weird, but overall I think I did better on sims than MCQ.
One took me forever to figure out what they even wanted, then I realized they wanted me to correct improperly documented supplemental material. Like something that should be depreciated by wasn't.

MCQ performance seems to be connected to sims. Do good on MCQ, then expect harder sims to a degree. My opinion of course.

I'm pretty much sure the AICPA has confirm that sims aren't adaptive at all, only the mcq are.

    AUD - 82
    BEC - 80
    FAR - 81
    REG - 82

I took FAR on April 13 and I can see how Time Mgmt is an issue. I felt like I had to fly through the MCQs and I agree, Gov't/NFP was not heavily tested like it was the first time I took FAR.

SIMS were either DRS or some form of having to flip through tabs of information. I can see how it is close to “real world” but having the SIMs broken up into testlets is stressful. I ended up having a research question in my last testlet so I was able to finish with 10 minutes left to spare. It's going to be interesting how things go. Here's to 75s for the crew!

    REG 69, 73, 80 (lost credit), 80!

    FAR 62, 69, 72, 79!

    AUD 71, 84!

    BEC 64, 71, 82!

    Done!

    REG: 69, 73, 80!
    FAR: 62
    BEC: TBD
    AUD: TBD

I guess that's why you have to study everything because my exam experience was different from SIXiam. The percentages were similar to the blueprints. I do agree that mcq were lengthy.
