    Hey, a quick FAR exam related question. Are the questions on the FAR exam are as lengthy as I am seeing on these CPA courses? I am using Surgent and the practice questions are pretty lengthy, which in turn, i think are more difficult because you are overwhelmed by too much info. I did the practice questions on AICPA website and the 10 questions there are so much easier and straight forward. I was extremely stressed out while doing PQ using Surgent but felling a lot better after AICPA where I found the 10 questions to be a lot easier. Also, does the exam throw a lot of calculation questions, if so, are they usually short or lengthy ones where we have to do multiple calculations to get to the answer? or mostly conceptual qs? I initially had 15 months just to pass FAR, of which, I have spent over a month looking at these materials n practice questions n thinking WTH!! pushing back my exam again to the March 10th for the 3rd time (3rd exam window) Please some1 tell me that this exam is not THAT MUCH harder than the other 3 exams. Looks like I will take the same amount of time just getting ready for this exam that I spent on passing other 3 exams!!

    BEC passed July 2020

    Reg  passed Sept 2020

    Audit passed November 2020

    FAR passed June 2021

    You have what it takes to pass, AND you've done it three times already! You got this. The Sims are always gonna vary, sometimes you'll get easier ones, sometimes harder. I think that's the case for every exam.

    The way I look at it is, if you prepare for the difficult simulations, and get overwhelmed by the practice Sims, you're that much more prepared if you face one on the actual exam. Don't fall into the trap of diddling around and only practicing what you know/like or what style you prefer. We don't get to choose what our exam looks like, so we need to be prepared for just about anything, especially things that we're not strong on. Put yourself in those difficult situations now so you'll be ready come the exam. Good luck!

    BEC - 90 (7/19, 8 weeks)
    FAR - 78 (10/19, 10 weeks)
    AUD - 75 (12/19, 8 weeks)
    REG - 90 (7/20, ~12 weeks, split up)

    Ethics - 97 (~6 hours to go through the material & take the quiz)
    Licensed in Virginia (10/20, ~1.5 weeks to process after submitting everything)

    There are maybe 2 or 3 long simulation questions and others are relatively short so you shouldn't worry about it too much. You passed the other three exams relatively quickly so you should be fine with FAR. Make sure to have a strong grasp of presentation, classification, and journal entries. Thats how i finally passed FAR and there were maybe 6 simulation questions i quickly solved since i ran out of time.

    Hi! I passed FAR last summer and recall that the first testlet of MCQs had roughly 1-2 sentence questions, while the second testlet was harder and was mixed between 1-2-3 sentences long. The TBSs simulations seemed lengthy, I got two statement preparation questions, ugh, those took forever. I ended up submitting the exam with 1 minute left on the clock. They were definitely longer than my REG exam TBSs.

    I struggled passing FAR and took it twice and failed, I finally switched to UWorld Rogers CPA review and passed the FAR exam! Good luck to you!!

    @LD, 1-2 sentence questions would be awesome, you must have done very well in the 1st test let to get 2-3 sentence questions in the 2nd testlet as it would get more difficult. Were there many calculation based or conceptual based? I will check out UWorld Rogers. I would just love to find a course that gives you similar MCQ as of the exam instead of throwing these long n difficult ones, making me feel not smart n frustrated, lol.

    @CPAHope

    @ayc311 thank you! Hope you'll be done soon!
    After taking the exam couple times i realized the importance of format and presentation of financial statements. Know exactly where other gains/losses, discontinued operations, oci, and etc go under the income statement. You need to know exactly what items go under statement of retained earnings, b/s, cash flow statement, and changes in shareholders equity. You also need to have good grasp of every important journal entries and how they have an impact on different statements. I haven't seen much of lease and pension questions so i think you should just know the basics. Consolidation and business combination you should definitely know though. Definitely know governmental/nonprofit! Good luck!
