Wiley Being Exceptionally Slow & Buggy Today - Page 2

Anyone else having trouble? I chatted with support and my guess is the bugs I’m seeing are due to them going from the tabs up top to now being displayed on the side. They said there’s nothing they can do and that the tabs on the side are here to stay.

Only 3 more weeks of dealing with the buggy system that is Wiley! Good riddance.

Contact vneely@wiley.com to see what she can do. I want to switch back to Becker. This is ridiculous.

I'm not sure why it isn't working for you guys. I've been using it all week and just this morning and haven't had a problem. I have had problems with them in the past though, hope it all gets sorted out for you.

It looks like it's working for me this morning. I took yesterday off, but it has worked for me this week other than that.

Anybody else not pleased with Wiley? I feel like their course is pretty bad given the cost. Pam Smith's video lectures for FAR is the only thing I've actually liked about any of their study materials. The software is full of glitches and has been for the past year, but they haven't done anything at all to fix it. I'm almost finished with their REG material, and this has probably been their weakest section. The material is poorly organized and confusing at times. I've done well on the exams, but I feel like it's been in spite of Wiley's subpar product. Ninja MCQ on the other hand has been fantastic. Jeff puts out a much higher quality product at a fraction of the cost.

I'm not too pleased with them either. I'll get two results back after this window so I'm not sure on the score part, but just going off of what I've actually learned I can confidently say that just hammering out MCQ's using Ninja has made the info stick more. I guess it just depends how you learn best.

But yes, after buying the platinum pack of Wiley I regret it. I should've just bought the silver at the most. Who knows, after these two parts I may just drop Wiley all together and just use Ninja's MCQ's

I'm still having issues. If a lesson does load, it times out when I try to take the quiz at the end.

As far as satisfaction with Wiley, I haven't been happy with it at all. The lecturers are really dry and they add a lot of fluff.

I used Becker half assed for BEC, REG and AUD. I passed BEC with a 90% and then both REG and AUD I was 1-3 points away from passing. Unfortunately my license ran out so I decided to give Wiley a shot. It's been rocky to say the least. I like their bite-sized lectures but for FAR there are a lot of 15-20 minute lectures and adding time for notes, etc they're really not that quick, especially with all the fluff. I do think that them going into more detail is going to help me, but who knows. Lastly, I haven't opened the book…it's too intimidating. With Becker I could buckle down and say I'm going to do two chapters this weekend and get them done. Lectures were more engaging/interesting and were down to the point. I say I'm going to finish 20 assignments in Wiley over the weekend and 10 in I'm ready to die. I think the issue came in with the MCQ's as Becker didn't have a large enough test bank outside of the homework sections so I'd memorize the questions. I wish I had just gotten a test bank and bought Becker again.

Not to stop the bashing Wiley campaign, but thought I would play devil's advocate and share my experience (outside of this new toolbar launch that seems to be bogging down the whole site):

When I set out on my CPA journey in May I had just quit my job and took a week to do all of the trials and read up on which CPA software was the best. I tried Gleim and Roger and didn't care for either. It really depends on your learning style. If you get bored easily I see why people go with Roger bc he is kooky and will engage you in the topic. Gleim seemed a bit old school and I was a bit intimidated with how their material was structured. The thing I liked about Wiley is their lesson plans. Having no idea how many days or months I needed to study for FAR (which is what I decided to take first) Wiley really helped a lot.

I've stated many of the bad things about Wiley throughout my posting history (and in this thread), but overall for $2k I've been getting all of the necessary tools I needed to pass and dominate the CPA tests. Every situation is different and everyone learns in different ways, but for someone like me that is studying for these tests full time, they have allowed me to go into depth in each topic and they have enough in their test bank to allow me to review for multiple weeks.

I have noticed this all weekend too. And to add to the fun. Was in Audit and did 6 TBS earlier this evening. It was an area I knew, so I was pretty sure I got them mostly right. I was graded zero. Every answer, right or wrong, was marked wrong. It literally shows my answers: Yes, yes, yes, yes, no. And says “incorrect, answers are yes, yes, yes, yes, no.” I reported it. Who knows if that's part of the bug. They definitely never grade correctly but obviously it's not working at all right now.

I'm torn on Wiley. I did well with it on two exams, for FAR it is too long and cumbersome for me to find useful. But overall for the amount of money, I find the glitches to be inexcusable. As well as the questions that are clearly showing up for sections that have nothing to do with the section you just studied. A very frustrating system. I hope I can pass and put this behind me, but I probably would second guess getting Wiley now. You need a lot of time and patience for it.

    I spoke too soon.

My TBS's do not show the correct answers, all of my TBS answers are “wrong” and I had to agree to an update of my content in which it now shows that I'm 23 assignments behind on. The total time to complete the AUD section was originally about 100-120hours? That time just instantly jumped up to 180 hours.

People reading this thread and trying to decide whether or not to buy Wiley. Do NOT do it. From my experience (owning Wiley Platinum and paying $2,300) for the past two months is not worth it. Problem after problem after problem.

I am on AUD and same thing happened to me Bourne. I was two days ahead of schedule on my exam plan when I clicked an agreement to update content. It added 36 lessons that I am now behind on.

Don't let it throw you! this is exam is already a ridiculous amount of lessons, so drop in the bucket to add a few dozen more.

Make sure you update your start date to today's date. It had mine set on my original date. After changing it to today it made all “missed” assignments move ahead of my schedule. Still doesn't defeat the fact that their system is a disaster.

For them to do this major of updates, they have to have some reason to believe that thus far, the 4Q results will not be up to par. So, to save their asses they have to update everyone's course and throw everyone off, just so at the end of the window they “had the material in the software for 4th quarter testing”. Otherwise, why not wait until the testing window is over to implement the updates?
