Studying for FAR retake with Wiley

I’ll try to keep this short, but could use some perspective, preferably from someone who had a FAR retake with positive results.

I was still stinging from my 1 point fail of AUD after the long score delay when I found out I failed FAR by a 10 point margin (took late Q3).

I studied with Wiley and Ninja (mcq, audio). I do think, looking back, that after taking AUD and knowing about the long wait, I dragged FAR studying on too long. (2 months then 3 week review). I know I don’t want to (nor can I) spend that much time again. I will be curious to see my score report, because I actually thought I did OK on the SIMs, so I was surprised by my score.

As for Wiley, I liked it for BEC (pass) and AUD (so close!), (and even REG), but for FAR I felt it was too many lessons to get through (260+). It would take me 3 months to go over them again and I don’t think that helped the first time dragging it on so long. I also can scrape together some money to re-up some Ninja, but Wiley has to be my primary course because I can’t pay for another one.

So my plan, at present, is to read Ninja notes, listen to audio, do MCQs in both Ninja and Wiley (my MCQs for this last run were Ninja. I didn’t touch the wiley test bank). I can hopefully target the areas I don’t know as well and make sure I do. Do I practice the SIMS too? I am looking at 5 weeks of steady study/review and taking at the very end of October. (Limited with work when I can take off for exam). Then my hope beyond that is a 4 week recram of AUD because I feel I was so close there, I hope I can pick up where I left off. But with the clock ticking on me, I feel like I need to try to be taking more than one a quarter.

Welcome to opinions on what people did for successful retakes. Trying to remain positive, but these fails hurt the ego of someone who never struggled at all in school. (I know I am not alone in that; it’s just not something I am used to at all. This exam is humbling. Let me tell you).

I studied with strictly Wiley. I failed FAR with a score of 72 on my first go around in 2016. Took it almost a year later in May 2017, 3 week study session (NTS was expiring and right out of busy season) and basically hammered the MCQ and made sure I was comfortable with SIMs. I knew certain areas in which I struggled (bonds, leases, etc.) and really made an effort the second time around to get a better understanding those areas for calculation and term purposes. Received a 78, but honestly didn't feel much better when I walked out of Prometric. Granted I almost always left Prometric feeling terrible.

Thank you, @Kriech23 sincerely for sharing. I am hoping around 5 weeks is enough. I will be busy in October, but I want to try to knock this one out while the material is somewhat fresh. I think if I'm honest with myself I know the areas I struggle and I know I need to buckle down on them. But MCQs are a big part of my review/retake plan overall. Thank you and congrats to you on being done.
