Reading Wiley book or doing massive MCQ’s

I am sitting for FAR in 6 weeks, I have taken this section before and it is my least favorite, there is just so much material to me. In the past I had the Becker lectures and I found myself spending most of my time watching those rather than really focusing on the MCQ’s which is a mistake. My Becker lectures have expired so I can no longer watch them nor do I have the money to spend on another review course. So I have the 2011 Wiley book and I am starting to read through it, it is taking me forever and I do not feel like I am making much progress. Would you keep reading the book or toss it to the side and just start plowing through MCQ’s? If I am reading the explantions as to why I am getting them wrong or right I am hoping I am covering the material in the book. I just don’t want to run out of time, I really think focusing on the MCQ’s is the key to passing. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would do both. Divide and conquer.

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

I would do both. I used Wiley books for additional MC and SIM practice for all my parts along with Becker on AUD, FAR and REG. For the most part, I had very good success. If you have the time, be greedy and gobble up as much practice as you can. The more exposure to sample questions, the better you will absorb the materials, in my opinion. Best of luck!

massive MCs is always the way

just my opinion (but something else might work better for you):

of all time spent studying, probably <5% should be spent watching lectures/reviewing books

95%+ should be spent doing MCs

    done

It depends on your learning style. For me, reading the material doesn't do anything for me. I swear when I read accounting textbooks crickets are the only sound I hear in my head. Taking intense notes, and banging out an insane amount of MCQs has made me understand the material much better than reading.

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58
