    Wiley Question –

    Do those of you who have used CPAexcel, think it prepares you well under the new format? Just wanted to poll some people to see how they feel about it. Thanks.

    What do they call an accounting person, who only managed a 75 on all four parts of the CPA exam....you got it, CPA!!!

    BEC (2/28/16) ----- 78

    I took audit a few days ago so I can't really answer 100% yet but I felt pretty prepared. I got, and still am, nervous because I left 55 minutes on the clock. That means that I either knew it or completely blew it. Sorry that it doesn't really help. I really like the new update that they did to it. It's much better to keep track of your progress and allows you to plan ahead.

    @mjl194:

    You have some good scores for your other 3 parts. Did you use CPAexcel for all of them?

    @excel14 I thought that for FAR I was extremely well prepared and I only used Wiley to study. I made sure to try all of the questions in the test bank at least once. The SIMS aren't very comparable to the test, but that is similar to what others have said about Becker/Roger etc. You'll want to focus on the MCQ's in the test bank to help you for the test.

    I take auditing in a couple of weeks and while I didn't like the instructors for this section as much, the material covered in the book seems like it is more than adequate to prepare me for the exam.

    Overall Wiley is half the price of Becker and you get to keep your log in for as long as you need to pass. They have updated their material for the new test and they have tons of questions to test you.

    @CoachEmUp:

    I hate to admit it, but I've had CPAexcel since 2009, but have never truly gotten serious with this exam. I used Gleim to pass BEC in February 2016, but that is expiring soon. I guess no program will assist you with this endeavor until you get “fully committed”, but I was just wondering if CPAexcel was enough by itself to pass. I definitely will utilize Wiley Test Bank as well. Thanks for the advice, and here's to hoping that you passed!!!

    When I was completing my Masters, I bought into the Becker hype and purchased the entire material. I hated it. I couldn't stand how long the chapters were. I only made it through half the book for a Reg test and bombed it, accordingly. I wasn't ready to take the tests yet.

    By the time I was ready, Becker had expired and a former manager had told me about CPA Excel. That is all that I have used to legitimately study. I don't even count that first test. CPA Excel is more than enough to pass with. I haven't looked at anything else since I purchased it.

    As stated above, the videos aren't great, but that's not a great way for me to learn anyway. I only used the videos if I was completely lost on a subject. The best tool that CPA Excel has is the mentoring. You can post a question and it will be answered within 24 hours. 9 times out of 10, a question that you would have has already been asked and answered.

    If you have any additional questions about the software, let me know.

    @mjl194:

    Thanks for the information!!! Did you find that the CPAexcel SIMs were comparable to those on the actual exam, or is what everyone says true, that there just is no way to adequately prepare yourself for the surprises known as SIMs? 🙂

    I felt like I was prepared for the SIMs. The SIMs structure didn't change that much from when I took FAR and REG (August and November of 2016). The only change was that instead of one to two SIMs that had documents to look through, there was five or so. Another great source is the practice test on the AICPA website. It's a really good example of how the SIMS are.

    I have been working as an auditor for 3 years so that may have helped me, as well.
