UWorld Roger CPA Review Question –

Did you guys all get the update email? Looks like they have completely redone the layout and the books are now available. Also note taking features etc… All sounds GREAT, but mine isn’t updated? Anyone else having issues?

Just curious, do most people say FAR like the word ‘far' or do they use the acronym F.A.R. I have always said it as an abbreviation (F.A.R.) but the other people I've run into say it the other way. I will probably always say it how I do because I'm just so used to it now, but now I'm interested whether I'm the only one who says it that way!

    BEC: (4/2012) 88
    AUD: (5/2012) 91
    REG: (8/2012) 82
    FAR: (1/2013) 78 🙂

    “FAR”

    “AUD”

    “REG”

    “B.E.C.”

…is how I've always said it, Keely.

“FARE” grates on me because it hasn't been FARE since 2003.

    AUD - 79
    BEC - 80
    FAR - 76
    REG - 92

Don't hate on Roger! And who says AUD? Hhahahaha. I've never heard that. Everyone typed AUD but says Audit I thought.

OK, this probably isn't the right place to post this but I'm hoping Sandra and other successful Rogerites will read it and provide me with their opinions. I'm close to having to start over after the dreaded failure/lost credit nightmare became reality. I want to try another test prep provider and I'm strongly leaning toward Roger for my FAR-AUD-BEC retakes in 2013. I used Yaeger and they mostly read from the Wiley book. Sure, they hold your hand through some of the MCQ and SIMS, and then send you on your way, but I often felt like I wasn't being “taught” despite the fact that they call it a teaching course. It seemed like I was being handheld through the Wiley text without any actual teaching. I considered Becker but it seems like they do the same thing as Yaeger, and they're really expensive. Becker does give you a nice highlighter and a different set of books though that doesn't seem to justify their cost. Roger seems like he actually explains the concepts. He also seems energetic, which I need, because I'm getting depressed over taking these exams again.. I'm thinking Roger for my lectures, along with Wiley MCQ and maybe some Yaeger CRAMs at the end. Any thoughts or reviews on Roger out there?

Roger's program is working great for me so far. His notes are more concise than Wiley (it's basically a condensed version of the Wiley textbook) and walks you through some problems. If you do all the HW and then bust out a bunch of MCQs at your final review stage you should be golden. I haven't looked at anything in the Wiley books except for the HW problems, Roger's books are more than enough to suffice.
