Which schedule are you following? I'm doing the 3 month schedule but changed the study schedule around. I'm not doing any of the Wiley questions yet though. MCQs aren't good for me until I know the material a bit better.

I am also using Roger. My lectures expired, so I will be reading, taking notes, Wiley questions after each section, then for review rewrite notes and more Wiley questions. I am so doing 8 weeks of 20hrs/week. I am also considering buying NINJA audio to supplement in place of my expired lectures.

Are you all enjoying Roger CPA for FAR? I was thinking of switching to that review course for FAR. I used Riger for BEC and I enjoyed his style.

@Sandra I'm using the 6 month schedule for FAR and then a 9 month for the rest of the sections when I go back to get my Master's in late August. I've been doing the assigned homeworks at the end of the section (book problems), but the Wiley software assigned doesn't seem to match well with what has been presented in the section at least for the first section. Maybe once I get further it will help.

@rmm I do enjoy Roger so far, he keeps your attention well and he makes the concepts stick pretty well in your head.

So I just got done with Cash and Cash equivalents. Homework from the Wiley book checks out to what we've learned, but again once I go into the software (Current assets and liabilities section) I'm getting all kinds of questions that I have no idea about. Is this normal? IDK what to do/which problems to focus on. In the Roger textbook for the assigned homeworks it just says: Software Problems-Basic Theory and Financial Reporting and Monetary current assets and current liabilities. How many problems should I be doing for these HWs?

I asked the Roger CSR about the Test Bank not matching. Seems Wiley ‘reformatted' their test bank layout and some of the overlap gives you questions you haven't been taught yet. In the end, it's all OK because Roger covers the material later. The Wiley HW Books are usually spot on with the material he's covering. I'm near the end of my FAR study with Roger and I've pretty much ditched the HW book and only do MCQ and Simulations on the Test Bank. I figure it's more like the exam, I'll just stick with that.

I am also using Roger. I used it for BEC, failed the first time, then restudied and barely passed. And I failed AUD last month. My strategy for BEC and AUD was like what Roger said (reread lectures on Roger's book, do all MC on Wiley HW book, then do simulations couple times on Wiley CD before the exams). However, I still do not feel confident using above method. I feel the focus of my study did not match the questions on the exams =(

Now im studying FAR which will be taken in July. The HW questions on Wiley HW book are taking me forever to finish, I can only complete like 20 MC Questions in 1 hour because I have to read the solutions.

I also noticed when i do simulations on CD, the questions are very different from the materials we learned from the lectures.

I will try to take AUD again, and if it still doesn't work. I might switch to Becker

Anyone has successful stories using Roger? Please share… I am desperate =(((

    BEC - 67, 76 (4/30/2012)(PASSED!!!)
    AUD - 57 (5/29/2012)(Rematch in August!!!)
    FAR - NTS (7/15/2012)
    REG - NTS (8/31/2012)

I think many people do pass with Roger. I haven't taken any section yet, but so far I really really like the program. The lectures (mostly) make sense to me the first time around, then I fill in the blanks with the book.

Like I said though- I'm not doing the MCQ until I get through all the materials 2 or 3 times.

It seems from the signature lines of people using Roger that they often pass by a wide margin, or just barely miss it. Not much in between. Seems like BEC is tricky for a lot of people- I'm not sure I'd blame the review, but instead make sure that you have a true understanding of the concepts. If the BEC section is anything like the CMA they will turn the questions around and really test your understanding of the concepts more so than just having facts memorized.

@mbbransc would you recommend I skip the Wiley questions for now until I get further into the lectures? I might just do the lecture, book, then Wiley hw book for now then save a couple Weeks before the exam and crank out the test bank qs. Does this seem like a good plan?

    @Surfer- thats what I'm doing.

I watched all the lectures once. I marked all the sections I wanted to watch again and I'm doing that not. Governmental and non-profit is a bitch for me, because I'm never seen that $hit my entire life. Its getting more and more clear but its hard (for me at least).

Anyway… After I'm done with that I'm going to go through the book and do 2 sections a day- so a total of 4 days on “book review”. I also have the Ninja audio which I listen to sometimes, but its not super helpful for me for FAR. Depending on how I feel about the material after Sunday I'm going to start hitting the test bank.

For me getting MCQs wrong is bad bad bad. For whatever reason even though I look at all the answers and learn about why I was wrong the original answer sticks in my head. Learning through questions is not the way to go for me unless I cheat and just look up the right answer to begin with.

You have lots more time than I do so it may vary for you. Looking at the material often but going over it quickly works for me. Every time I look at it again I remember something new, but I don't lose the old stuff because I'm looking at it all the time.

I liked he course a lot. I used video, notes and questions for FAR and AUD, and just notes and questions for REG and BEC. I think his notes are great.

I passed AUD and FAR using Roger — here's what I did —

I followed his 6 month plan and did the following:

    *Watched the video

*then went back and read the section from his book and took notes

*did all the Wiley homework assigned from the book.

That's pretty much what Roger recommends, except he suggests that you do each homework problem 2 – 3 times. I didn't do that, but I did do this….

*I listened to the videos during my commute to and from work (turned my laptop around so that I wouldn't get arrested or anything). I just randomly picked a video from a subject that I needed a little extra help on

*I did about 800 Wiley 2012 online test bank extra MCQs for FAR and about 400 for AUD. I did these during my lunch break at work, at night, the day or two before the exam — whenever. I always worked on all the problems that I was able to do, not just the section that I was on. (Like, if you are on FAR -4 — I had problems from FAR 1 to FAR 4 show up, not just FAR 4).

I'm very pleased with how it's worked out so far, and I'm sticking to the same plan for BEC and REG.

Hope this helps, I know I scoured these forums and the CPAnet forums for any and all advice before I started.

    FAR -- 90
    AUD -- 95
    BEC -- 82
    REG -- 92

    DONE!

@Kim4 did you watch all the lectures first before rereading or watch a lecture then do those steps? I know the NINJA way is to watch all the lectures first but I like your approach as well. I am waiting for my Roger stuff to come in the mail so I am trying to map out my “plan”!

I watched the lecture for that one section, then took notes for that section, then did the MCQs for that one section. Rinse and repeat for each section 🙂

I like the NINJA way too, but I haven't done it, so I don't have any personal experience with that. Roger's way worked for me, so if it ain't broke…

    FAR -- 90
    AUD -- 95
    BEC -- 82
    REG -- 92

    DONE!
