I didn’t really understand how Becker CPA explained variances until I viewed the free UWorld Roger CPA Review video that someone mentioned on this forum, it really helped alot even though he can be a little much at times with his style. I don’t know if you can use the same link or if you have to sign up for it yourself but it’s free and worth it. And you can print a pdf excerpt so you can see where he gets his examples from.

Alright I will take a look at that Roger thing too. I wasn't really paying attention COMPLETELY for BEC5 but I agree page 69 was not done very well. I started to figure out the whole variance in spending or efficiency in the MC though.

I keep screwing up the inputs for the formulas for overhead variances. Standard or actual outside the parentheses? What's in the parentheses, quantity or price? Is this one just fixed? How do I know when to use what? Flexible budget at standard vs. flexible budget at actual, etc.

That's what I'm having problems with. When I see the answers, they make sense how they're done. But getting there is sometimes tricky. On the easy questions, I'm doing fine. It's those long fact pattern ones that I'm getting wrong.

Great video. I wish I had seen that when I was working through BEC. I finally got through this topic by memorizing the formulas and chart in Becker. I didn't understand it, but I could perform it.
