We lost this thread in the forum conversion, so I’m piecing it back together via this Google Doc – which is cool because of the stat analyis.

    AUD take 2 –

    Trending – 99
    Questions attempted – 2831
    Not seen – 48
    Avg – 82

    Actual – 66 ( a 1 pt increase over 1st attempt )

Devastated, trying to figure out where the disconnect is.
Read Becker book 4 times through between 2 attempts. Flashcards, copious notes, recorded my notes and listened to at my desk while working.

Not sure if it's the SIMS, extreme test anxiety, a combo of the two or something else.

    Extremely frustrated.

Yay!! I passed FAR and my mission is half complete! I have continued to have success by focusing on my weak areas (according to the NINJA MCQ assessment) during the last week or so of studying. This is after working through the CPAExcel review material. I can't wait to be done with this come July. And officially done come the score release in September.

    My stats:

I also used Roger Cram to drive home concepts and I felt like NINJA MCQs and Roger Cram were a great combination – definitely will be doing that for FAR!

Additional Comments: I've take audit several times (and have gotten better scores) which may be a reason for not passing using Ninja MCQ even though I hit the review phase. I think I'm too familiar with the questions even if I wasn't memorizing them.

After going through every question I focused on sections with my lowest scores. I rewrote Ninja Notes twice and did every simulation at least once. This was my first time to ever hit the review stage but it just didn't work out for me.

Additional Comments: I used Yaeger videos and used the Wiley book for recommended homework questions and simulations. I used ninja MCQ for further homework questions on topics that I felt I needed more help on and as a final review aid. I did 17/71 of the simulations on ninja which were much harder then the book simulations. Before the exam, my recent scores were in the 80s-90s when doing just the regular MCQ with all the problems.

In my opinion, the Ninja questions are harder then the questions on the exams so make sure you have a great understanding of the basics as that foundation carries on the exam and allows you to blow through the MCQ, this will probably be even more important for the new format (I finished all the MCQ with around a bit more than 2 hours left for SIMS). The simulation questions are very hard and I believe the reason I passed was because I left a lot of time for them and used the AL quite a bit while making sure I had everything filled out.

    Additional:
5-3 Weeks Out: Watched the Roger lectures and followed along in the book (I highlight and underline things in the book, and make my own flashcards for noteworthy info).
2 Weeks Out: Started with Ninja MCQ's. This time, I went through each and every subsection of MCQ's and worked through approximately half of them. This actually worked extremely well, as I (1) retained a lot of information because of the concentrated time on each specific subtopic; (2) still got a very accurate gauge of the information I needed to focus on; and (3) saved a ton of time. I highly recommend this method if it works with your learning style. By taking this approach, I essentially completely avoided the inefficient diminishing returns to information retention that I otherwise would have had by spending twice as long doing MCQ's.
1 Week Out: Took one practice exam using Roger exam simulator. Scored a 68%. MCQ's mirrored the actual exam fairly well. Sims did not. After taking the practice exam, I went back to Ninja MCQ's and reviewed the flashcards I made throughout the previous weeks.

Studied for a total of 5 weeks, 2 of which I was in Mexico for work…so I really only studied about 3.5 weeks.

Watched Roger Lectures and read the books. Also, did 90-120 questions per chapter in Roger. When I was done with Roger's lectures, I would buy Ninja MCQ and Ninja Notes. Did 1500-2500 MCQs in Ninja depending on the section. Also wrote the Ninja notes 5 times in the 2 weeks before the tests. Average trending score in Ninja was in low 70s expect for BEC which I was trending in the 90s.

Average study time was about 35-40 hours/week for 7 weeks for REG (I was not working when I was studying for REG).
Average study time for AUD 20-23 hours/week for 8 weeks.
FAR study time was 32-36 hours/week for 10 weeks.
BEC study time was 80 hours in total the first time and additional 40 hours in total the second time.
