Just deciding between writing my own notes (which is pretty time-consuming) or replying on the NINJA notes. Your opinion is greatly appreciated.

In my opinion writing your own notes is more helpful, if you are crunched for time the ninja notes will definitely help too. I'm doing both.

Both is best, but NINJA would be ideal if you are short on time…

I hope Jeff doesn't get upset at me for saying this, but they're ok, but it is missing some important information here and there. They're good if you want something to bring with you when you're on the go or if you want to cram and do some last minute studying. It also is a good addition to have because it did clarify a few things that I was unsure of and also had some important information that wasn't in my own notes. I would suggest you write your own informative notes and use the Ninja notes as a supplement.

Nah – not upset at all. Do they cover every single inch of the CPA Exam? No – they would be an inch thick.

They were intended to be comprehensive (in all material respects), but usable as a review tool to compliment any review course, which is why I tried to keep them to 125 pages or less – give or take.

Well, I pulled the trigger. Hopefully they will prove to be a legitimate substitute for the process of typing up 130+ pages, as I did for FAR. I just don”t want to go through that process again for REG with 1.5 months to go until exam day, but I may have to.

For what its worth, I thought the REG NINJA notes were great. The notes condensed everything down into a manageable size. It forced me to focus my thoughts on key points and eliminated a great deal of confusion due to the overload of information received from a full course.

@unDeR I took REG this weekend and the NINJA guide is what saved me I swear. I read it over twice the night before my exam and certain topics just stuck in my head. Lets just say I lucked out when I got to the sims that everyone dreads from rereading the NINJA guide! I literally said out loud to myself on one of the tabs “thank you Jeff”! I think they are worth the money and you can always give them back if you aren't happy!

I think the Ninja notes did an excellent job with Transactions in Property, Partnerships and Corporate Tax. Since those are three heavily tested areas, that's a good thing!! But for Individuals and Gifts/Estates, I would advise you to write your own notes on those and use the Ninja as an additional supplement.

Though no matter how good someone's notes are, nothing is better than your own notes. The only thing is that is that it's tedious, time consuming process, but it's well worth it. You'd be surprised at how informative and concise your own notes can be. Sometimes it's even helpful to take your handwritten notes and type them up. That way, your can organize and condense everything. It did that with FAR and it helped a lot. I probably will do that this weekend with my Tax notes because my long handwritten notes are not getting me anywhere, lol.
