I started the journey of becoming a CPA in 2009. After passing REG (78) and BEC (80) and failing AUD (65) and FAR (73), I quit. The job I had then took too much of my time (working from 8 am to 8 pm daily), but I can’t quit it due to financial necessities. Also being married to a jerk didn’t help either.

Then come 2017 – the year my divorce was finalized. New life, new house, and the realization that I’m almost 50 with a dream still out there hanging. So I tried again. This time I’m working in a different company with a better work environment.

I started with AUD which was my lowest when I tried it ages ago. I figure if I’m going to pass this thing might as well start with the beast. I started studying in early October 2017 (2 months after moving to my new house). Took the exam in late November and received my score in December – a 91. I can’t believe it! I didn’t only pass my biggest challenge – I slew the beast!

Next was BEC in January 2018. This was my new beast. That exam was nowhere as hard compared when I took it eight years ago. I wrote my experience here https://www.another71.com/cpa-exam-forum/topic/bec-is-hard/. But as hard as that exam was – a miracle… 82!

I scheduled REG right after – February 2018, this is my comfort zone as I worked with Taxation when I first arrive in the US. Score released in March 2018 with an 88!

Then FAR! I know it’s going to be hard. Being an Accounting major, the materials are not so hard to understand. It’s the magnitude of the topics that makes it another beast. With a growing memory loss (I’m almost 50) I was having a hard time retaining what I’m studying, so I keep on rescheduling. I originally scheduled to take the exam in May 2018 but chicken out, so I re-schedule. I finally took it in December 2018 due to an expiring NTS. I was not sure I would pass it, but I hoped anyway – then while on vacation to my home country I received my final score – an 84! I’m done. Finish.

Today, I received my license. I can finally add “CPA” after my name. Thanks to Ninja. My success would not have been possible if not for the Ninja MCQ and NINJA Audio. (Jeff… my kids got to the point they hated hearing your voice in my car. haha!)

    AUD - 91
    BEC - 82
    FAR - 84
