    I didn’t pass FAR the first time around thanks in large part to the SIMS and I’m scheduled for a retake on Oct. 12. For those who have used Gleim, do their SIMS prepare you for the actual exam? If they do, I’m gonna buy their FAR test bank and try to do as many SIMS as I can until Oct. 12.

    Gleim Sims for FAR is to show you how to navigate the real exam. The SIMS mirrors the actual exam in terms of design.

    When it comes to preparing that is a different story. The SIMs are really only to help you learn and understand the concepts differently from the mcq's. It's good to take some time to work and study themm.

    The SIMS on the actual exam are FAR (pun intended) worse and you will no idea what will be on it.

    I think so. But I don't know if the test bank includes enhanced simulation and DRS. I use it's premium package so mine includes everything for study.

    The only way you can prepare yourself for simulations is to know the content. There's a limited number of simulations but dozens of topics they could cover. Given that review programs lack access to the actual exam, and only a limited number of RETIRED simulations have been released, the only way to prepare is to KNOW the content. Personally, I think doing simulations within review programs is a poor use of time. Most are long, detailed and cover a breadth of material that isn't likely to be tested on the exam. Stick to pounding out MCQ, do simulations only for your weak areas (e.g. bonds).

    I agree with @Skynet. The SIMs are to help you grasp concepts with a different approach and some of them involve something as simple as matching terms or quick calculations. I would assume longer DRS examples make up a majority of the SIMs on the actual exam though?
    Either way, I feel that they are good practice.

    YMMV, but I would I have not passed without pounding Gleim sims. Just doing mcq for me wasn't translating well on the sims, as a result got a 74. Then started to do sims on Gleim, I ended up passing my next 3 exams in a row with comfort.

    I've had sims pretty similar to those on Gleim. It's just that the real deal is more longer and difficult than Gleim. If you can master Gleim mcq and their sims you shouldn't have much difficulty in passing.

    @Anthony

    Thanks for the insight on Gleim's sims. How many sims did you do roughly for each unit? I know there are many different sims you can do for each of the units but how many would you sat is sufficient to pound to reach the level of comfort you want to be in for the exam?

    Thx

    @jayjack25 Hard to say, but a lot. All I know is that when I can solve the sims to the point where I can randomly select a single sim testlet from Gleim and score around the 80-100% mark and know why the answer is correct I know that I was comfortable going in.

    @Anthony I have gleim, but I'm unable to select sim testlets at random. I've only been able to do sims through the segment learning. How are you able to select at random?
