    Gleim CPA Review Question –

    These are the most insane and demoralizing things ever. Here is the answer explanation to the first part of this question (a document review sim)…

    The FAR sims were really simple and then I go to BEC and they’re just mind bogglingly hard. I feel like I should just submit all my sims blank and see what they did rather than try to figure them out on my own. I can’t imagine there will be a sim with even half this much calculation on the actual exam.

    I agree with you. At some point, it boils down to the question of what is the best use of study time, learning these SIMs or focusing more on the material? This very subunit had me frustrated to the point I emailed Gleim about it. Their response was essentially to use the BEC SIMs to reinforce the material in the subunits and that the other candidates they have spoken to feel that BEC SIMs (on the actual exam) are the “easiest” when compared to the other exam sections.

    I feel like the complexity and difficulty of the BEC SIMs in the Gleim review significantly exceed that of the Gleim FAR, AUD, and REG SIMs. Gleim hasn’t disappointed me so far, so I am trying to push on through, but my average in the Gleim BEC SIMs is far below my SIM average for the other Gleim review sections.

    @Tim & @GAPilot715

    I feel the same way. I do well on the MCQ and get to the sims only to feel demoralized. I am not sure if the real exam will be like them or not.

    @Adambomb I don't feel like they were comparable to the real exam. I hated doing the Gleim BEC SIMs, but I also made a 91 on BEC so…

    @GAPilot715,

    I am impressed with your score. I also use Gleim. Do you think Gleim BEC SIMs are more difficult compared to real BEC exam?

    @ckcpa18 In my opinion, Gleim BEC SIMs are incredibly more difficult and complex than anything I saw on the exam. That being said, I feel like the Gleim SIMs prepared me. Don't get too discouraged when you bomb the Gleim practice SIMs, just review them and see what mistakes you made. I think the process and application is more important to understand than necessarily getting high scores on the Gleim SIMs.

    The Gleim BEC sims are on absolute steroids. I can assure you the SIMS on the actual exam are going to be nowhere near as difficult. Go on the AICPA website and do one of their practice exams to get a feel for how the SIMS will be on the actual exam.

    Do you think it's worth it to keep trying the SIMS until I get a decent score or just learn how to do them and move on?
