Becker CPA Review – Studying with old Materials

I have the 2004 Becker review course and a 2006 Gleim review course. I don’t want to buy another review course until I’m sure that I will actually follow through with the studying and not give up after a couple of weeks, as I have done in the past. I know I can’t rely on these for FAR, but are there any other sections that would be ok to use? My plan is to use one of the old versions for 1 section and if I stick with it, I’ll enroll in another (updated) review course for the remaining parts.

My opinion is to invest in new materials. Jeff tells everyone about very affordable review courses, such as Yaeger. If you want to keep it as cheap as possible, invest in Yaeger CRAM and take your chances there. At least this way you will be studying with updated materials. You can then supplement this with your older courses, obviously ignoring any outdated material.

The consequences of studying with these very outdated materials and failing far outweigh spending the money on a course. Not only will you be wasting the money you paid for the exams, but you may not be nearly as motivated to continue your pursuit of certification.

    Good luck.

Delaney21, Honestly, I do not think you will find anybody who would attempt this exam using 2004 & 2006 material. There is just to much at stake with this exam to take your chances with outdated material. If you are serious about obtaining certification, save yourself the headaches with using old material and purchase an updated review material. I have read where some individuals use just the Wiley books which you can get for less than $50. Do some research on material and see what works for you. Best of Luck.
