    I took REG last Nov and failed mainly because I didn’t prepare enough but also the SIMs that were tested were not covered in the Becker review. I recently talked to someone who also took REG this month and had the same thing happen to her. Has anyone used any other supplement to Beker to help cover the topics Becker misses? I am getting ready to retake REG again and want to really make sure I am ready this time, I am not 100% confident that Becker will get me through and need a good supplemental review.

    I used Yaeger Home Study and finally passed on the 3rd time. I failed the first 2 times because I choked with time….Yaeger covered well everything in the exams.

    I stuck with Yaeger becuase I knew where I went wrong.

    How close were you to passing with Becker?

    BEC=77, FAR=89, REG=73,74,80, AUD=70,69

    BEC=77, FAR=78, REG=73,74,80, AUD=70,69, 84 DONE!

    Not close at all. The first time when I did the final exam through Becker I was in the 50% range. That's exactly what I got on the test 54%. Now I am preparing better and so far in each section I am in 75+ low 80 range. My biggest fear is being tested on subjects not covered by Becker. I don't want to buy a whole new review program (for lack of time mostly) but I would like something to use to to review. Is the Wiley book any good? or maybe I was thinking the CRAM course. Maybe I should just see how I do on the final this time around with Becker. I am just really afraid to fail again and I want to make sure I do what I can to ensure I pass.

    Usually the people that pass REG with Becker are either high achievers (always score high 90's) or work in taxes.

    If you're not either of the above, then you should get the Yaeger Home Study. I would rather spend extra money if I wanted to have the best and greatest chance of passing…..

    Yaeger comes with the Wiley book. Wiley is a good book. Alot of the areas in REG (taxes) are difficult, so I think a lecture is vital..

    I am a Becker Student through my Masters Program at Keller. So Far, I think Becker was fabulous on AUD and FAR, as I scored an 88 / 93 respectively.

    Based on MC on REG..I think Becker is also very very good, and 80% of the sims. They can't possibly be infallible and cover everything, you will end up studying until doomsday.

    However, I was pissed that one of my SIM writing sections last week was subject matter not covered in class, or on Becker DVD (small paragraph in Becker book not covered at all) and I feel like I blew 1 written part. Couldn't even find an answer in the research tab.

    The other written part was easy, with help of Research Tab. I've heard they only grade 1 written. Does anyone know how they choose which 1??? I've also been told that borderline scores have written re-reveiwed to try and squeeze you an extra point or 2. Would they switch to the “un graded” written??? to give you more points/???

    I heard only one WRITTEN COM is graded. A lot of people get mixed up and think only one SIM is graded. all working tabs are graded but only one written com is graded. I dont know how they choose which one to grade but theres something with getting a new sim makes you in wave 2. How do you know if its a new sim? beats me… Ill be taking REG next saturday and Ive got over 200hrs under my belt. Hope I do well…

    FAR (Feb. '10) - 83
    REG (Apr. '10) - 88
    BEC (May '10) - 79
    AUD (Aug '10) - 80

    I ordered Yeager cram to supplement my Becker but I dont like it at all. It is not organized nearly as good as Becker is. The quality of this DVD is bad and the book is not good either. Also, they said that the book is the only thing I need but he keeps talking about some handout. It is just chaotic and doesnt create structure in my preparation. I see however, that most of the people posting on this site like yeager, so I think I am the weirdo… Or they remove the oposite opinions because they try to promote yeager. Let's see if my opinion will dissapear now:)

    I loved the way the Becker book was organized for REG. When I finally took the exam, I had 2 sims that I had never seen before. I literally pulled answers out of thin air, and totally BS'd the written comm. I'll bet I got enough points on both sims to bring my score to passing…I know I nailed the MC. There were NO surprised in the MC…I had seen everything on the exam in Becker, with the exception of 2 or 3 questions which were probably the practice, ungraded ones.

    A co-worker of mine is studying with stricly Wiley books and he scored a 94 and 95 on FAR and REG…so that must say something about Wiley 😉

    All in all, I didn't think the exam was that bad. The Becker questions were much wordier than the actual exam questions, and I didn't have ANY questions with heavy calculations. But every exam and every window is different……………

    Good luck to all! I did it working full time with a very needy, drama queen of a 3-yr old at home. If I can do it, you CAN do it!!!!!

    REG 79 (Becker); BEC 63 (Becker) 70 (Yaeger); AUD 66 (Becker; 11/30 - Becker); FAR 11/24 (Yaeger/Wiley)

    Thanks FL_CPA2010, what you say makes me feel much better. Good luck on your BEC tomorrow. BEC is not very bad either. The real questions are far easier than the ones in BEcker final exams or questions. Make sure you review the ratios since they test them in BEC.

    Becker was insanely difficult for BEC relative to what I actually saw on the exam. If you can get into the 70s on Becker for BEC you'll be golden.
