ParticipantCan someone explain to me why Becker is getting rid of the desktop/laptop Becker App at the end of the year? So I just graduated from my MAcc and all of my classmates work on their laptops in the library. Becker said that most people use their mobile devices or go online to Becker. Just out of curiosity, how many people actually use the mobile app. I have a strong feeling most people use the laptop app. I love it since I'm constantly not in a good wifi spot and I just found my ipad and blew the dust off it, but it has the red screen of death so I'm beefin. Also side note, how long does it take to get your 2nd NTS? I doubt it takes 3 weeks like the first time around.

ParticipantWhat is the meaning of the verb “to beef”. What does it mean to be “beefing”?
I agree with you. When I was using Becker I preferred their computer application as I didn't always have internet access but as Jimmy Dugan said, it does appear a lot of softwares are going cloud-based. Hopefully you'll be able to find a good alternative.

ParticipantIsn't it all about control? I understand Becker Desktop had the expiration date on it but I'm sure people can find a work around somehow. I think they discontinued it so that now they can track the usage of the software as well as help make sure only paying customers of Becker are the users of the system. For example it will prevent sharing of the Becker CPA software…they can track IP addresses etc.

ParticipantJust download everything on your app for when you need access without internet. Stats etc will sync when you next have access to Internet. That should solve your problem.
As a side I also never used the desktop app. Always logged in online.
