Did I read someone’s post correctly where they said they are being taught the Becker CPA series for their Master’s?

(it’s been awhile and I can’t find who said that ~ I have some questions)

There are colleges here in WI that have those classes as part of the masters program.

I can't think of a better idea for a Master's program. My Master's program doesn't seem that much different than taking electives for my Bachelor's degree.

I know someone from Ohio who is in a masters degree program that requires completion of the Becker courses to graduate. I could get there college information in needed.

I had to complete the Becker courses as part of my Master's program last year. It is a required portion of the Keller Graduate School of Management curriculum for the Master's of Accounting and Financial Management – CPA track. This is actually a reason why I chose to get my Master's there over a few other schools in my area (North Jersey/NYC).

However, what I didn't know at the time was that DeVry owns both Keller and Becker, which I am pretty sure is why it is part of the Keller requirements. While most people pay over $2000 for all four Becker courses, Keller students are paying for it by the credit. It was $515 per credit when I was taking these courses from Jan – May 2009…this comes out to $4,635 for all four prep courses, which is insane!

If I had known how much more I would be paying for the Becker prep originally, I probably would have gone to a different school and enrolled in the Becker prep courses on my own because it would have been much cheaper overall (Keller overall was significantly more expensive per course than the other schools I was considering).

Thanks for the information. I saw Keller when I researched for an online Master's. I dropped out of a local MBA program to focus on the CPA exam. After all this studying, it would be nice to get some graduate credits. It sure is more difficult than any class I've encountered. Passing the CPA is in and of itself an accomplishment!

With Keller, if you passed the sections of the CPA exam that are required Becker course work, you should not have to “re-take” the courses. Passing the exam itself supposedly counts for the credit.
