I am working Becker chapter ” Audit Procedure by Transaction Cycle” MCQ, I only got 30% questions right so far. It completely knocked me down.

Could anyone please provide me study advice for this chapter? Read the whole chapter a couple more times? I have not read the whole chapter very deep yet. It seems each section inside the chapter are telling the similar stuff. ( internal control & substantive procedure)

AUD is the first exam I am planning to take in April. Without studying FAR first, will it be more difficult to study AUD? I heard that taking FAR first will help AUD. However, I’ve started studying AUD for a couple months already. Not really want to waste time to give up AUD now and go for FAR. Any advices I will really appreciate!!

FAR does help, but its not impossible to pass Audit. The key to doing well on the A4 material is to understand it and own it. I haven't sat for the test yet (I do next Saturday), but I think that since this is so heavily represented in Beckers, it may be something that is tested heavy on the test. So just plan on spending more time with it (I work some of A4 everyday to keep it absolutely fresh).

Now that you've done some of the MCQs, go back and re-read the chapter and you should pick up quite a bit more out of it. Don't get too discouraged. You may have to do this chapter a few times. Don't put the next two chapters off too long though. You can push forward to A5 and A6 and do MCQs out of A4 each night before you finish.

Repeat Repeat Repeat until its fluid.

Is there a part of the transaction cycles that you aren't understanding?

    REG - Nov 4, 2013: 88
    FAR - Feb 27, 2014: 86
    AUD - April 5, 2014: 91
    BEC - May 6, 2014: 83

I ran into the same issues with Becker for AUD and eventually scrapped it for the Wiley Book instead. I would recommend picking up a used Wiley AUD book on Amazon or something. Becker just seems to do a horrible job of explaining AUD with the exception of the reporting section.

Don't let the percentage of correct questions discourage you. The point is that you learn for the incorrect questions and build from there. I am also studying AUD right now and it's definitely a different animal from the rest. Eventually things will start clicking just keep doing the MCQ's.

Thank you!! . Quina, I think your method is right, I should re read this chapter and keep it fresh. I've bought Wiley Aud test bank already. I will work on Wiley questions too. Thank you again for your advice!

I don't think reading the Becker book again is the best/fastest way to build your confidence. I recommend referring to the explanation and the Ebook if necessary while doing the problems. Stop focusing on the percentage you get right. I was getting 50% in that section until I did them 3 times and scored 95% and did those questions in less than a minute. Focus on repeating the questions until you understand them. If necessary do 20 questions at a time and then do the same 20 questions immediately after while reading the explanation. When I come to a new hard question I read it and answer it twice before I move to the next problem. Obviously I know the answer immediately after reading the solution, but you want to have time for your brain to fixate on the relationship between the right and wrong answer.

Don't be afraid of the myth that memorizing answers is bad. It's only bad if you stop reading the question and you are not paying attention to the relationship between the answer and what they are asking. I would honestly try to do every question in that area at least 2 times before you move on. If you follow that prescription you won't even remember why you thought that section was hard.

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

It is a difficult section no doubt. I am also struggling in it. I just reread the Appendix 2…that helped some. But do the MCQS again and then go back and read the text. You are bound to pick up more.

Audit is my first exam also. I wish I had taken FAR before this but it is what it is… We have to move forward with our plans.

    Good luck!!
