ParticipantI'm currently studying for FAR using Becker after passing AUD, my first section. After reading the text and listening to each lecture, I move on to the mcqs. In addition to the relatively high difficulty, I'm noticing that many of the topics presented in many of the questions are not actually explained in the lectures. I gauge my overall progress and understanding based on how well I do on the multiple choice, so when I get multiple questions wrong it makes me feel disheartened, unmotivated and incapable. I just bombed an otherwise brief and easy section because of a simple concept that wasn't covered in the text. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

ParticipantDid you just start studying for FAR? I noticed this same thing a lot at the beginning of FAR and that was mainly because they would have MCQ's that related not just to the current unit but also units I hadn't done yet. Like adjusting entry questions that were about long term debt. It gets better as you go along but there are still some MC Q's that will just go deeper into the topic past what the lecture touched on, for those, I usually just end up googling the question to get a better explanation on it!
All this to say, you're not alone in thinking this- I was so discouraged in the beginning because I thought I was missing something but that's just how Becker is, unfortunately.

ParticipantI'm just beginning F3 now. The adjusting journal entries section of FAR really through me for a loop. The lecture was deceivingly easy in comparison to the mcqs. I understand intellectually that this entire process is of course a learning experience, but for some reason I get discouraged when I struggle to get above a 70 on any section without any assistance.

FAR makes you feel stupid and downright incompetent. It's all part of the process. Keep on keeping on!!!nmj012
