I know that this is not the time to think about all this when you have your test in another 6 days, But I am feeling nervous about all those formulas, and variety of information this section covers. Nothing is like building block, 1 chapter from Finance another from IT and suddenly Economics pops in.

I feel nervous than ever. And question keep coming in mind and haunting that does Becker prepares you well enough for test? I am scoring on an average of 70% in some topics and 75 to 80% in another.

What you think friends, What can I do to put myself in better position of passing?

One more question haven’t practiced WC at all yet. I really don’t know what to do about that 15% exam coverage area.

I don’t know what am I writing but I feel super panic..right now..

    Any advice, tips, highly appreciated.

    Thanks.

    CA Candidate
    FAR: You are down...
    Aud: Surprised me...Thanks
    BEC: 75% work done
    REG: It's 80 but I am 100% done 🙂

I'll tell you on Tuesday if my strategy worked or not 😉

Becker has been my primary source for material for all 4 portions. However with FAR I did supplement Becker with NINJA MCQ but didn't really use NINJA all that much. What I found with FAR is that there are so many topics that I wanted to master each one and I just kept hammering away one topic at a time until I mastered it.

For BEC I used Becker and went through every MCQ twice. I also supplemented with NINJA MCQ and hit that really hard compared to FAR. When I took the exam, I was trending at 81% in NINJA with 59% into the Adaptive Learning phase. For $40 NINJA is, easily, worth the money. BEC's topics are all pretty stand-alone (similar to FAR) but there's not nearly as many topics. So it's really easy to get to a point where you start memorizing answers and not concepts. If you read the question “Sally walks onto a construction site” and immediately go “Oh, the answer is Elephant” than you're doing it wrong.

Finally, as for the WC. Spend about an hour or so looking over a couple of examples and understand what makes a good memo. But don't spend much more time on it than that. The questions can come from anywhere and the consensus seems to be that getting the answer correct is less important than writing a good memo. So focus on having a good structure, using good grammar and not having any misspellings and you, should, do fine.

Ninja MCQ put me over the top. I had been using CPAexcel previously. Although I had very close scores, I wasn't passing. I turned to Ninja MCQ and hammered the questions and finally passed.

Did not study the WC at all, ever. Everything I read and experienced on those indicated that generally good business writing is being graded, not content. Besides, if you hammer the MCQ's and study, you should know the topics pretty well by default.

Sure thing. First of all, I studied for 3 months. Approx 2 hours per night. I listened to Ninja Audio everyday on the way to and from work (30 min each way).

For Becker, I watched the lectures for a few sections then did the MCQ once. When done with all the MCQ (getting them each right at least once) I did the sims for a night. When all that was done, I did a Progress test of 90 MCQ for the chapter. After that I moved on to the next chapter, wash repeat

When I finished all the chapters, I went back and did the MCQ for each chapter again over and over again in order. Redid the sims too. I skipped the lectures on the 2nd time through.

After I completed the chapters for a 2nd time, I did various progress tests (was getting 90%+ correct) until 4 days before exam. Those days I would take the Becker Final exam 1, repeat it the next day, Becker Final exam 2, repeat it the next day.

Each night of the last days leading up to the exam I would do progress tests, notecards, etc of the sections I was constantly getting wrong.

Hope that helps. I kept an excel sheet to log where I expected to be by certain dates in time. Each night I would time my hours worked and plug it into the sheet. I logged over 200 hours JUST in Lectures, MCQ, SIMS, Progress tests on Becker alone.

Also, I did the writing sims multiple times. Just helped memorizing the format.
