Urgent Question about NTS Expiration

I have a question on the expiration on my NTS. I have the Regulation exam scheduled on 10/13/2016. This is the last date I can schedule the exam on my NTS. However, I am not well-prepared at this point and I want to take the exam later this year. I was wondering if I can cancel the exam appointment now and re-apply for a new NTS for this section for the last testing window 2016. I know I can only take the exam once within one testing window. But if I cancel my appointment now, will I be approved for a NTS to take the exam from October to December 2016.

    BEC 93 2/28/2016
    AUD 80 4/11/2016

You forfeit your NTS by not showing up on the day of your scheduled test. That cancels your NTS and allows you to sit in this testing window. You can go ahead and send your NTS application now since you are not intending to sit on the 13th.

@Amor D, Do I just not show up or do I need to cancel the appointment?

No-show cancels your NTS and forfeits the testing fees. No need to cancel your appointment.

My NTS for REG expired on July 6 and I was allowed to apply for a new NTS in the same testing period. Assuming I understand your question, you will definitely be allowed the apply for a new NTS and sit for the exam during this current testing window once your current NTS expires.

Sorry that my first post had to be a bump to a last-year thread. I've been a long time lurker (and only passed my BEC, extremely luckily, this past March).

I'm having an exactly same situation. My NTS for REG expire May 6th, when my exam is also scheduled. But I'm not ready for this suicide mission – only finished 3 chapters out of 8, and I have a final exam on May 5th (tomorrow). Going to BEC exam would give me an estimated chance of passing I'd say of less than 20%, yet I cannot take it again until September (thanks to prolonged score release). My other option is somehow let the NTS expire and pay for NTS all over again and take the exam at the end of May, which gives me another 20 days to study.

HOWEVER, I'm stuck at how I should approach to cancel this exam. It's less than 48 hours from this BEC exam, so an extension of NTS is unlikely in a timely manner.

    1) I cancel @ ~$88 – seems like every other thread I found says this is the safe way to expire the NTS so that I can apply soon to take this exam in the same testing window.
    2) I don't cancel and no-show @ free – this thread is the first one I've seen that says (by @Amor D)

You forfeit your NTS by not showing up on the day of your scheduled test. That cancels your NTS and allows you to sit in this testing window.

I want to confirm if this is true (contrary to the other threads I read here on A71). If anyone had personal experience with option #2 and would be so kind to chime in, I'd appreciate it!

p.s. sorry for the large quote text, I'm not yelling or expressing any negative sentiments, I just don't know how to shrink it 😉

No show you just have to wait a few days and you can pay for another NTS and be able to take the exam in this window.

    AUD - NINJA in Training
    BEC - NINJA in Training
    FAR - NINJA in Training
    REG - NINJA in Training
    AUD - 1/6/18
    FAR - TBD
    REG - TBD
    BEC - TBD

    AUD - 73, 72 retake 7/2/2016
    BEC - 8/20/2016
    REG - TBD
    FAR - TBD

I am so ready for this nightmare to be over. Been at this way too long.

Wow thanks for a quick reply!

Apologize for sounding paranoid. Is this your experience? And is there a possibility that each State Board differs in policy? I assume I will see an option of “re-application” on ILBOA soon after current NTS expires on the 6th. But I'm terrified by the possibility that the NTS issued would only allow me to schedule for exam in the next window. In that unfortunate case, $80 saved would be far outweighed by the time wasted.
