I studied from May to October (4 months more or less) for FAR and failed. I’m retaking it at the beginning of January but I just cant find the motivation to study. I am working as an auditor for a top 10 public accounting firm, and although hours are not crazy yet, I do work 40-45 hours a week. I’m exhausted, let alone discouraged, and cannot seem to concentrate. I used Becker for the first try, I’m using Wiley now. Please, share your views on how to get motivated. Thank you!

I say 4 months is a little too long to study for any test, but thats just me. Perhaps you're burnt out from the thought that you might have to start over, but you're not! just simply reviewing! These things are tough, but what gets me through is knowing that the longer I wait and passively learn, this cycle will be never ending. Journaling and meditation (if you're into stuff like that) helps a lot for me. But also recognize when you need a day or two to recoup! Keep at it! youre not alone…trust me….

Thank you so much for replying. Today has been one of those days… I also believe 4 months is way too long but I didnt have enough time to study and take in Q3 so I took it at the beginning of Q4. I can hopefully pass it in January 🙂 Thanks again!

Isn't a normal work week 40 hours? I hope you find motivation soon because the clock is ticking from your audit pass – which starts the 18-month window to pass the other three

I'm with you!! Started off this year strong with a pass on AUD my first attempt, but then have since failed Reg 3 times… Taking FAR tomorrow since I couldn't retake REG this quarter. I work for a large firm as well as a senior and am working 45-50 hour weeks most weeks. All I can say is keep plugging and make sure you have good management backing. Maybe take some days off here and there as study days if it's possible! You'll get there just keep having faith! You're not alone!
