    This is going to be an interesting week for me. Between packing for a weekend trip to Michigan for New Year’s weekend, working a short and crazy week, and trying to finish my lectures before my trip, I may be sleeping this week. Let’s see how it goes. I’m ready for anything!!!

    @Peanut

    Honestly, I got the final review for FAR and BEC but wasn't thrilled with them. I was hoping that there were more mcq's! But I do remember that the questions were hard. I think the ones that you go over together seem doable, then the remainder were tough. Don't get down on yourself Peanut. I think (please remind me of this when I do the final exam for audit, ok?????) that the really hard questions may make us feel crappy, but in the end, those tough questions are good practice. YES, those questions are much tougher than the exam.

    @Pacific

    I think that you did the right thing. 3 exams is tough. What kind of puppies???!!! I keep going back and forth on getting another dog. I think having 2 would be so fun.

    Glad you can study at work–keep it up! Happy Holiday!

    @JoMarie,

    Weird, we were supposed to go to Michigan too! Our friends have a lakehouse up in Douglas. But my youngest is getting his wisdom teeth out and I couldn't turn down the only appointment they had. So, we will be hanging home. Have a great time!!!

    ~~~~
    Overall, I am a bit behind on my schedule, but my son gets the wisdom teeth out tomorrow, so I will get some study time in the waiting room and hopefully make up some time. A5 is kicking my butt. I am just about done with all the mcq's in Becker, so now onto the next batch. Hope you guys have a great New Year…and hope you get your study time in so you can spend some time with family! Cheers!
    Don't worry!! You are great shape. For me, this will be my 4th try. For some reason, it is an albatross around my neck. I was hoping to finish the Becker testbank, and then go to Wiley and finish that. I am going a bit overboard, but desperate times call for desperate measures.
    How do you feel this time around? I am always amazed at what I pick up that I didn't learn see before. Are you studying the sims ?
    @yankee
    I agree! It's crazy the amount of stuff I come across and get the ‘aha!' moment… also, I am amazed at the very random facts I still remember. I also try to do some Wiley questions in between Becker…this is the first time I use Wiley testbank and I am actually very impressed with it, definitely not as fancy as Becker, but very complete in my opinion..and the price is great!
    I have mixed feelings about the SIMS as I am sure that is what caused me to fail..I scored ‘Strong' on almost every MCQ area and ‘Weak' on SIMS… It still makes me mad, but it gives me the courage to destroy AUD this time around! That being said, I will leave all the SIMS to the end just so they stay fresh in my head. I've read on here that you're better off not looking at the SIMS and just understanding the material (and that's what I did on my 1st try); however, when I took FAR I was happy I did all the SIMS on Becker..so def doing as many SIMS as I can this time around…what about you? How are you feeling and how are you tackling the SIMS?
    well, I am in the same boat. mostly stronger/comparable on mcq's and overall stronger on mcq's and weaker in sims. I got a 74 also. I am going to use the Gleim sim wizard this time. I am pretty sure I have done all the Wiley and Becker ones a few times now. I barely studied the sims on BEC and FAR and passed them both. And REG and Audit I studied the sims like crazy and it was the sims that did me in on both exams. Very frustrating. But I will review the AICPA recently released questions and sims, I thought that was helpful last time.
    I feel the same way, it is amazing what has stuck in my head. Unfortunately not the calculations on PPS Sampling!!! I have to go over those. I get foggy on that, but feel good about audit risk, inherent risk , and control risk questions.
    Overall, I feel good. I know I can do well on the mcq's, but feel a bit uneasy about the sims. I am just glad that this exam is not a time sensitive exam. That I think is the saving grace. It gives me some comfort for when I get to the sims.
    Well, we have to keep each other moving forward! I am finishing A5 tonight and then start Wiley tomorrow. I am also going to rewrite notes. That really helped me last time.
    Here's to more Aha! moments in 2012!!! Happy New Year 🙂
    @yankee so glad to hear we are on the same boat! I can pretty much fly throught the MCQ and score in the 80s and 90s. This time around, I plan to use ALL the time on the SIMS, use the research functions and will not leave the testing room until I have exhausted all the time and re-checked ALL SIMS! I will not take AUD again (hopefully ha!)
    Good luck to you as well and happy New Year – 2012 is our year to become CPAs I can feel it!
    @yankee – my two puppies are Shelties, I just love them so, they are my babies. 🙂 They are very competitive for attention from their momma, if one sits with me the other one has to crowd in so last weekend was a whole lot of snuggling with them and they seemed pretty darn happy….I know I was. 🙂
    Oh and yankee, having two at the same time is totally the way to go if you ask me. They have someone to play and snuggle with when we are not able to.
    I am starting to get nervous about FAR. I am scheduled to take in on 1/31 and am only on chapter 2 of Becker's MCQs. I keep getting everything wrong after watching all the lectures (I took the NINJA approach). Granted this is my first time doing the questions. Am I crazy to think I will be ready for 1/31?!
    @rmm91909
    I say the first swipe is normal to not hit it out of the ballpark. I think you are still ok….34 days left. I wouldn't make an assessment if you are only on Chapter 2. I would continue. I think the enormity of FAR is daunting. Take it in little bites. This was advice I got on the forum. Take little practice tests on a chapter till you consistently hit 90 or above before moving on. Then when you move on to the next chapter, maybe do a progress test with Chapter 1 and 2, then keep adding until you are doing a full fledge progress test with all chapters. I think this is easy to do with Becker. I have been doing this with Audit. I took 2 days off with Christmas and A5 really killed me. so, today, I kept hammering progress tests on A5 only until I got 4 in a row with 90+, then I moved on to a full progress test on all chapters. Now I will move to another test bank…and well, rinse and repeat baby!! Keep it going!
    Maybe take a look at how you feel around 1/7/12…..do you already have your next exam scheduled? That would make a difference as well.
    I can't wait till this craziness is over!!! CPA's in 2012!!!!!
    Thanks Yankee! I think you are right just looking at the volume of FAR is what makes me cringe and think that I will never make it through it all. Little bites! As of right now I don't have another exam scheduled. I was toying with the idea of taking BEC in February. However my tax season is intense so I am not sure that is the smartest idea where me and BEC don't get along to well.
    @rmm91909 – I'm right with you with taking BEC while going through tax season. I actually sat down with my boss and told him I have BEC scheduled for April 24. So my plan throughout tax season is one day study, next day work. I usually take work home with me, but this year I'm not going to everynight.
    I can't wait till this journey is over. 2012 IS OUR YEAR!!!!
