LindseyMemberFailed my 3rd test in a row…..And they were the first 3 tests I took. 2 BEC and 1 Audit. Just found out I failed Audit. I’m not sure if I’ll continue. I don’t know what to do differently. so frustrating. I knew I might have trouble, but this is insane. I’m not sure if I can continue to waste time and money. Spent the first year of my marriage studying…..For nothing. Sorry to sound like a Debbie Downer, but that’s me right now. Congrats to all the passing scores today!!
BEC - 67 | 69 | 2014?
AUD - 11/27/13 - FAIL
REG - 2014
FAR - 2014

LanguisticParticipantIf you can look in the mirror and honestly say you did everything you could in your power to study and prepare for the exams then I'd say it's okay to quit. If not, get back on the horse and fight on!
I have been in your shoes after failing AUD multiple times in a row but I faced the fact that I was not committing myself 100% to studying and preparing.
The thing to remember with these exams is to not get too high when you pass and not get too low when you fail. It's a journey and we are all here to support you along the way.

AnonymousInactiveIt took me 22 months to pass all four exams. I spent the first 2 years of my marriage studying. I sat for 3 exams before I passed on my 4th sitting. I ended up sitting for a total of 11 exams.
Did it suck? Yes. Very definitely. A lot.
Was it worth it? Yes. No doubt. I will be a licensed CPA soon.
I don't know if you work or have other responsibilities, but I suggest in the next few weeks you reexamine how you are studying. Really look at how you study, how much time you are putting in and what tools you are using. Go on the forum and figure out what helps other people. This exam isn't as much about the material as it is figuring out how YOU learn and retain information. Then make a plan for the New Year.
As for money, definitely get the online Wiley Testbank $237 gets you an entire year subscription for all 4 sections. Get the Ninja notes, they are affordable and helpful. Also, many CPA review courses offer discounts on new materials if you fail or offer discounts if you are a new customer switching from another review course.
Sit down with your husband and maybe other people in your support network and explain to them that the CPA exam is very hard and will require all of your time and attention. Delegate whatever you can. Hubby gets to go grocery shopping and do laundry on Saturday while you study. In exchange, you can make time to watch a movie with him that evening. Explain what the pass rates are for most students (only around 50% per section.) Its about managing expectations.
You will regret it if you quit.

nbad311MemberAlso I just want to add that I tend to be super dramatic in some areas of life (pugs, food) and the whole CPA exam process was one of them… serious rollercoaster! When I was super stressed or failed, I was a wreck, threatening myself with quitting quite regularly. And when I got passing scores, I was high as a kite on life. So if you're anything like me, keep your seatbelt fastened during this ride. 🙂
REG - 65, 70, 80!
BEC - 35, 62, 79!
AUD - 73, 75!
FAR - 65, 73, 70, 75! DONE.December 6, 2013 at 5:12 pm #496084

AnonymousInactivePassed my first exam on the 7th attempt. I took REG and FAR 8 times each. I sat a total of 25 times. Nearly 5 years of my life was devoted to this exam. It gave me ulcers and a stricture in my esophagus. I found out I passed my last exam just 5 days before I found out I had cancer. That explained why I wasn't passing. Being confused, fatigued and sleepy were definitely NOT conducive to passing the exam. Now that it's over, I can honestly say it was worth it! You didn't fail 3 times. You just found 3 ways not to pass the CPA exam. The only way to fail is to quit! Stay strong. Be brave. This exam is a bully and now you have to punch the bully in the gut and take back your life!
I made this for a friend and I hope it helps you too.

mla1169Participantallow yourself this weekend to be angry, depressed, frustrated and over it. Its ok to vent, and ok to say you're done.
Then Monday morning, get up and get back to business. You're certainly NOT alone in having to repeat many tests before a first pass!
FAR- 77
AUD -49, 71, 84
REG -56,75!
BEC -75Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

michaelabs22MemberJust to repeat what others have said, I have put my wife through 5 failed exams and we've only been married a year! I've been at this on/off for 2 years I failed 5 before I passed my first one, and my 5th was a 74! I think if this is something you really want go for it, maybe take the winter off to relax and have some fun if you need. What finally did it for me was getting Becker, and setting up a study plan so that I could spend at least an hour or two at the end of each night with my wife to keep me grounded and having fun. Good luck!
A - 10/28/12 - Passed!!!
B - 11/20/12 - Passed!!!
F - 11/12/13 - Passed!!!
R - 02/01/13 - Passed!!!Work Experience - Done!
Ethics Exam - Boom! Done!RI Licensed CPA.
