Failed my 3rd test in a row…..And they were the first 3 tests I took. 2 BEC and 1 Audit. Just found out I failed Audit. I’m not sure if I’ll continue. I don’t know what to do differently. so frustrating. I knew I might have trouble, but this is insane. I’m not sure if I can continue to waste time and money. Spent the first year of my marriage studying…..For nothing. Sorry to sound like a Debbie Downer, but that’s me right now. Congrats to all the passing scores today!!

    BEC - 67 | 69 | 2014?
    AUD - 11/27/13 - FAIL
    REG - 2014
    FAR - 2014

Just wanted to add to the encouragement! I have sat 20 times so far, going for 21 next window and hoping it's my last. I think I sat 8 or 9 times before I passed a section. Personally I was half assing it. Then I passed 2 sections got on my high horse got a new job and what do you know lost both passed sections since I failed the next two and gave up! What a mistake fast forward about a year and I knew I needed to finish what I started I buckled down failed one section then passed three in a row! Now I'm one exam away from finishing this thing! REG is my little devil but I have two more shots and I'm going to take this guy down!!!

Don't give up like others have said take the weekend have a drink be mad and hit the books hard next week! We are all here to support you!

    A - 61, 91!!
    B - 78!
    F - 76!!!
    R - 71, 73, 74, 69, 77!!!!

    Finally done!

This is my 2nd attempt at the exam, I had two parts passed (failed many) and I stupidly quit, big mistake. Now I'm back and with a vengeance!

I started studying in August of 2010 and it was September 2011 before I passed my first exam. I took an exam every testing window. It took a total of 13 exams for me to get through the beast, but I did it and you can too.

    Good luck!

@Lindsey Don't give up! You are a warrior and this is just a beast to kill. Take a mini vacation to take energy, positive attitude and then talk to people who passed (here you can ask in this forum) strategies, what they did, etc. I remember one post of a warrior that put her strategy and passed definitely the exams. So here the thing is not about knowledge but discipline and determination. You will feel great when you do it. You are not alone on this, we are many facing this challenge but hey, you ahve the studies, probably your experience, so is just to pass the exams! So, go, drink a beer and smile, because THIS just started! 😀

Just remember this mentality this test is setting you up to be like all the partners in all my friends firms, divorced and working 80 hours/week 50 weeks/year.

I'm frustrated, but trudging too. Don't let anything ruin what really matters.

    REG- (1) 76
    FAR- (2) 64, (5)74, (7)83 (Over achiever!)
    AUD- (3) 70, (4) 75
    BEC- (6) 75

Wow. The encouragement here is so great. I haven't been on this site for a week or so. I was trying to clear my mind in hopes that a good, long break from everything CPA related might help me make a make a decision to keep going. I think I'm going to keep going. 😉 Thank you all for the support and encouragment. Hearing the stories and seeing that it is quite normal to have to take anywhere from 8 to 13+ tests in order to finally pass the CPA exam really helped me see that I am not all that abnormal or DUMB, which is how i kept feeling when I would get my scores. 😉 But I know I am capable and smart enough. I just have to put every ounce of effort into it and really study those sections that I HATE.

Does anyone have any links to any posts where people have typed out their study plan and passed? I need some help on laying out a new plan.

    Thanks again, everyone!!!

I think plans are kinda scattered here. Try the experience section.

To be honest, THE plan don't exist. Rule of thumb is focus on one exam at a time. Do practice questions until you can get 85%+ and hope SIMs won't destroy you. 🙂 Most importantly is fuel your persistence and balance frustrations. Relax once in a while to recharge. It looks like a marathon.

    Lindsey:

I took reg several times…too many times, before I buckled down and seriously tried. In the process I went through some tramatic experiences, but nothing like losing a loved one…more like fighting in vietnam.

Anyways, that aside…here is how I passed one exam so far.

I said ****** to becker. Too expensive, and the amount of the review put too much pressure on me.

I bought CPAEXCEL, I bought ninja notes, and I bought Wiley…all do not expire which made me feel more safe if I failed, and reduced my anxiety.

I did all the questions in CPAEXCEL…and felt lost….then I did wiley in study mode until I was getting 70 percents.

Then I did some cpaexcel practice exams before the test just to see what i would get and to my suprise I scored in the 88 percent tile, with a range of +/- 2. When I took reg I received a score of 88 on my exam and nearly sh*t myself crying..

Now i'm studying for FAR and I find myself pacing back and forth argueing too myself about astrological alignments and what I was really meant to do in life. It's absolute insanity.

So it doesn't get easier after REG it gets harder but don't give up because the first few times I took reg I did way worse than you…..I just keep telling myself that after this exam I'll be done with it forever and it's worth it no matter how long it takes.

I went to grad school and skipped the CPA and had a 4.0 but couldn't finish because of intense nightmares about not passing and because the CPA in the work world is more potent than a PHD and a masters….which is strange, yet that is probably why it takes a huge psychological toll on someone who is more of a generalist.

    Anyways, that's my spiel

Good luck to you….I'll catch you on the flip side.
