Hello guys I’m re taking BEC next month and wanted to know your strategies when scheduling an exam. I didn’t feel 100% ready for BEC but I took because I had already scheduled it. I kinda wanna wait this time and schedule it until I know I’m ready but what if there are not open seats or what if I never feel ready. Any suggestions??

Scheduling it first gives you a sense of ungency to study. Otherwise, you'll just slack off.

I've tried both ways….scheduling is better because it gives a set date to work towards. Waiting until I felt ready never came, so many reasons to wait just seemed to hinder, or someone else s causes or situations caused me to procrastinate. I am finally tired of putting what I want on the back burner that I scheduled the test and am determined not to reschedule or make any excuses….I have fought really hard this time and I don't feel ready but I don't feel guilty either….

I always scheduled when I finished the initial lecture work and began my review phase. By then I knew about how long I would need to review and scheduled with that in mind. For REG I overestimated the time I needed for review and I ended up pushing my exam up from early May until mid-April.

I didn't need a date or a schedule to motivate me to pass the exam. The CPA designation was enough motivation for me. The one reason to schedule early is just to get the date you want before it all fills up. I ended up taking BEC two weeks later than I'd have liked simply because no dates were available sooner.

Schedule first to set a deadline & used Becker to set up a study schedule. Works wonders. I also stayed on task and started studying the following Monday after my exam because I knew I couldn't control if I pass the first section or not. Thankfully it worked well in my favor so far! 🙂

Schedule 1st; otherwise you'll never test.

You can change your test schedule, just be aware that rescheduling within 30 days of the test will cost you, and it will cost even more within 3 days.

I always scheduled first, studied second. If I didn't do it that way, I'd still be working on my first exam….

On that note, I was more than guilty of schedule, don't study, push exam date, don't study, pay $35 to push exam date again, finally study/cram, and hopefully pass. I'd recommend scheduling your exam, making a study plan and sticking to it. Less expensive – not to mention less stressful. 🙂

Yup, I paid for 3 NTSs for AUD before finally sitting, and I took FAR on the very last day of my NTS. I have played the slack and postpone game for 3 years!
