How do you stay motivated? And how do you pick yourself up and move forward?
And specifically, what is your amended study strategy? Anything less than a 75 is a 0, but you can’t possibly repeat the same schedule, can you?
BTW – the title to this thread is meant to be absolute, positive reinforcement – like “The Biggest Loser”.
Fall 7 times – get up 8 π
Thanks!

@hustlinhustling me and your journey seems very similar. I also started in October 2011 and I have passed Auditing and BEC and studying for a retake for REG. I am barely hanging on but I know we can do it. We have to renew our drive and the reason why we want this!!!

March 29, 2013 at 1:10 am #545437MintsRGoodParticipantFirst off, I love A71 for threads like this!!!! It really makes you step back and think about why it's so important to not give up and to understand why it's so important to have a great support network in this forum.
I 100% agree with the other posters that the only way to truly fail is to quit!!!!!! Auditing has become the bane of my existence and I hate it with a passion, but I am determined to keep pushing through until I see a 75 or better! My undergrad degree is pre-law, so just to be able to sit for this beast I had to get an MAC and take additional business classes after my masters program just to have the opportunity to sit for this exam. It took me 5 years to finish my program as I work full time in public accounting and had to sit the winter semesters out due to tax season. The additional business classes I had to take were no picnic but I pushed through just to have the shot at sitting for the exam!
I started out in the admin department of my firm working directly under the office manager. She laughed in my face when I told her I was going back to school to become a CPA and informed me that I was barely qualified to pick up her lunch, let alone prepare corporate income tax returns! The other staff accountants and senior also thought it was hysterical and I had to work my ass off to get any respect from them. The most gratifying part now is that several of those employees are no longer with the firm because I worked HARDER than anyone else in the staff accountant pool and I TOOK THEIR JOBS. The office manager who laughed in my face had to PICK UP MY LUNCH when I left the admin pool and it was beyond gratifying!!!!! I'm currently the senior accountant at my firm (I worked that old hag out of her job too BTW) and will make partner once I have my CPA.
So after 5 years of grad school, $25k+ spent on tuition, busting my ass for the past 7 years and working those awful hags literally out of their jobs, and on the verge of making partner at the ripe old age of THIRTY…do you really think I'm going to let some BS auditing standards get me down??? NO F*CKING WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
THE ONLY WAY TO FAIL IS TO QUIT. I WILL NOT QUIT. WE CAN DO THIS!!!! π

My grandmothers favorite saying when I wanted to give up on something was “The only way to fail is to quit.” She was 100% right! I've worked for people who didn't think I could ever be more than a secretary. I was a secretary for 20 years. I've worked for several bosses that only looked good, or even looked literate, because of me! Now my old boss is shaking in his shoes because as soon as the State Board gives me that pretty little number and piece of paper, I'll be qualified to AUDIT HIS BEHIND!!! Hmmm, maybe he should have given me that raise he kept promising me while I was busting my butt to get a degree in Accounting going to school at night after working 10 hour days doing HIS FREAKING JOB! He actually told me that I needed to “pay my dues”. Ha! I've paid my dues and then some!
Keep up the good fight and don't let audit get to you! You can do anything you put your mind to and it sounds to me like you've put your mind to it!
