Any recommendations for studying for far?

I had bought Becker and I feel like they do not have enough multiple choice questions. The problem is that I can remember things very well, but it does not mean I know the material. I want to actually know the material for the CPA exam. Do you have any recommendations for studying for FAR or do you know where I can buy additional resources that will have a ton of M/C questions?

I would definitely recommend supplementing with Ninja, as it should have everything you're looking for. The Ninja notes and audio are amazing tools to have. As far as studying for FAR, I would also suggest dedicating one day out of your study week to a cumulative review. There's a lot of information, I found it helpful spending a day going over previous material.

The Wiley test bank + reading the book/taking notes helped me pass FAR on my 3rd attempt. I use Roger and I found his questions were easier than Wiley's. Wiley challenged me and helped me understand the topics better, because I did over 1,000 questions! Definitely read through your book and take notes – it'll help the info stick better than just watching a video and highlighting.

Study hard and know all of the new rules including IFRS! I used GLEIM and it worked for me -it has a good test bank. Also heard ninja has a good test bank as a nice supplemental option. Good luck.

Most of these recommendations are TERRIBLE. Becker is one of the best study prep courses out there (if not the best). Read the book and do not do the MCQs until you can actually answer them. I read each textbook cover to cover twice and would do all the MCQs twice. I never did a practice exam or the simulations. You don't need two or three review courses you just need to keep working hard and good things will happen.

@maverick I'm sorry but your recommendation was terrible!!!

People need to use the study program that best works for their situation and study habits. Not everyone can afford Becker and not everyone has an employer to pay for it. I actually intentionally stayed away from Becker because I cannot stand when things are overhyped. It just turns me off. I've been using Gleim since college because my professors had us use it to study and for CPA exam practice. That was over 15 years ago and it is still my go to study program. I use Ninja as a supplement.

You must be great at parties dude.

Plenty of people supplement Becker with Ninja. Ninja was all I needed. The MCQs prepared me very well for the exams but you have to read through everything provided in the question and answer to drill the concept thoroughly. I borrowed a couple of Gleim books and used them to allow study time away from the computer for a few sessions but never relied on Gleim to pass.

There is a reason that the top 100 firms all use Becker. It's expensive and it probably is not the best bang for you buck. However, in my experience, it gets the job done. I don't advocate purchasing multiple study courses and most people that I know just used one.

Most of the people in my office that haven't passed admit that they should spend more time reading the book. There are plenty of ways to pass the exam but I am just giving my two cents based on what I have learned and witnessed.

Trust me, Becker is more than enough. The 3 mock exams have even more mcq/sims to practice as well and their mcq's are generally more difficult than the actual exam so they prepare you well. I hear Gleim has a great test bank to supplement but I would focus on mastering Becker.

Like others have said Becker is fine. As far as tips go, utilize Becker’s chapter outlines. I printed out all them and turned them into a notebook. Also, if you haven’t get the final review. Odds are your firm will reimburse you even if they didn’t initially get it for you.

After I went through the regular book once, those two things are all I used.

Do all the mcqs after the modules in the regular book and FR book. Also do a ton of practice tests. I liked to do 30 MCQs and 1-2 sims per practice test and aimed to do 20-25 before test day.

    Study/materials advice is anecdotal.

Many people pass using one course.

Many people pass using more than one course.

It's up to individual preference and experience.
