Been at this since Oct 2013 and Im tired! I swear someone is effing with me. These ppl after making me the entire summer give a 73 and now they give me a 74.

As a follow up, I have found a silver lining in all this. For the first time ever I rated stronger overall in MCQs. I feel like thats a huge accomplishment.

I have a renewed committment to successfully completing this goal. I just need a little bit more focus. Reminds me of football practice. This is like going thru the motions at practice and the coach makes you run the same play 50 million 10,000 times because some scout team guy decided today is the coach is gonna make him STARTER.

That's the spirit! It took me 4 attempts to pass REG (my final section to pass). My scores were: 66, 67, 70, 77. If I wouldn't have passed on my final attempt in January of this year, I would have lost FAR AND AUD, not to mention the new exam rolling out in April, AND a first child on the way (born in May). I think what got me over the hump was supplementing my Becker materials with Becker Final Review (a few hundred bucks, at least with the old format (I think)), plus Ninja MCQ, Ninja notes and Ninja Audio – all for REG. I was even studying on Christmas day. I had to pull out all the stops. It was my last chance (at least in my mind).

You can do it. Get more materials. Hunker down and just do it. You're almost there. You've got this!

Man I feel you !!! Last year when I took FAR, I literally only covered 6 study units and made a 62. So this year I took nearly 3 months to study and completed all study units and was averaging about a 76%.. I got a fukin 54 on the exam !!!!!!!!!!!!! So yeah its frustrating.. sucks… but obiooouslllllyyy I need to do better lol and keep spending money and time cause I haven't learned my lesson.

@Wanna_B_TXCPA2014 I'm pretty sure you started this process with me awhile ago. (dang is it really going on 4 years!?) If so, then you know of the legends i.e. Kricket, I would say Mtaylo24 successfully joined that crew as well recently, mla1169, baxtercpa, and others.

I'm losing my credit for REG so I have FAR (4th time) and a retake of REG left before BEC expires. For some people, they can put their head down (or not) and pass all 4 in less than a year. The rest of us it requires a ton of determination, mental stamina, and persistence. When you fail it's kind of like grief. You feel angry and sad and hopeless. Eventually you overcome those negative thoughts and begin to develop a new attack plan.

I can honestly say that I have grown through this process. It has been humbling but at the same time I have learned a lot in all things accounting. I agree with your statement; it is like practice. You keep doing it over and over and over again. Your brain is like a muscle, keep trying!! We are so close.

Also, anecdotally, I would say those people who took years to pass end up being the best CPAs. They clearly have a strong work ethic and know the material. During the exam process, fail after fail, their careers stagnated but as soon as they passed… BOOOM they were off to the moon! keep grinding!

@Wanna_b_TXP lol i feel you on this. i got two 74's on BEC and thought i got like in the 70s in FAR…but yeah just like you said its like playing football. By reflecting on the past few times of taking the exams are like watching “film” so we have to practice harder and re-read/study that scouting report. So by the time its game time, we got on lock all the tricks the AICPA is trying to throw at us. Study hard, hit that hole and run that b over haha

@luke I'm in TX and my score report was in my candidate profile. The date listed is my desired date. I haven't even paid for my next exam.

@go.for.broke great job on getting it done when you HAD TO HAVE IT! Yours is an experience I can get plenty of motivation from. I signed up for the Wiley 14 day trial, getting Gleim, working with a friend that's an actuary to help me close my gaps in learning and application. This has my FULL ATTENTION.

@Pokey keep grinding took me 2yrs to pass my 1st then I passed the next one after another. I think much of it comes down to the process of acquiring the information. That's where I plan to focus my efforts.

@dro I do remember all the legends! Mtaylo24 reached out to me on this thread. Very motivating bc of the perseverance of the journey. Sorry to hear you lost credit. When are you planning to restudy for REG?

@S6 film study mode is in full effect! My main takeaways are while I seemed to have improved my knowledge of rules and exceptions with my improved overall McQ performance going from weak to stronger, my application of knowledge needs the work. I swear I know the SIMS that probably were my undoing. So anecdotally I plan on strapping on the pads and hitting everyday. Meaning the bulk of my studying will be SIMS. Bottom line is the scouting report for this opponent remains the same: tough and hits to the echo of the whistle. I am certainly up to the challenge.

@Wanna_B_TXCPA2014 Honestly, I wasn't even that upset yesterday when I found out. It was more like, hell yes I passed AUD! so then I checked FAR, 72, shucks. It's an emotional journey but it'll be worth it in the end. I'm going back to FAR first since it's the freshest. I would like to retake REG in Q1 too because (lucky us!) delayed score releases and more exam changes in Q2 even if they are for the better. 🙂 However, it will be Year End and I don't know if I can handle 2 of the toughest exams in this quarter. We shall see. Stay tuned lol

I have taken Audit once and scored a 72, BEC two times (61,65) and Far two times (58,65) both times on the retake for BEC and FAR I scored Strong on the MCQ but weak on the Sims which means I must have done horrible on the sims to end up with a score of a 65. I hammered MCQ until I was tired of doing them but it unfortunately has not helped me conquer the sims. Does anyone have advice to study for the sims?
I currently use Becker, I used Ninja MCQ for my FAR retake and plan to use it for the BEC retake but is there a way I can study the sims or should I continue to keep doing MCQ. I plan to retake Audit while its fresh in my head and I was the closest.
