My AUD expires 2/5/18. So my plan is to test 1/28 and get my score 2/26.

Actually I'm thinking of buying the latest Wiley book and get the Gleim test bank.

What I have decided is that I am going to have the answers to those blueprint items burned into my brain by test day.

Time for me to end the venting and start the studying.

@mckan514w thanks. I appreciate the encouragement. I really getting some good energy from you all that I remember grinding with me that have made it over the hump. Feels good to hear y'all are rooting for me. Its just beyond me how difficult this has been, but ppl reaching out softens it a little.

For REG know tax inside and out (individual, S corp, C corp, gift , etc…). Know basis and distributions. I skipped the whole BLAW – I mean all of it. You should know a bit about ethics for exam.

I have NEVER seen a BLAW SIM. Memorize the tax forms.

REG is not too difficult. I studied 9 or 10 days for a total of 40 hours max.

    AUD - 84
    BEC - 81
    FAR - NINJA in Training
    REG - 75
    AUD - 84

For FAR I copied the Ninja notes three times in the last two weeks before the exam. I have no idea if it helped or not but I did go from a 49 to a 79. Also my first time taking FAR with the 49 I was so freaked out I threw up in the bathroom during the break but still stuck it out for the sims. Can't be as bad as my experiences.

Also not my place but maybe go on the trip with the wife or take her out for a nice dinner or something. My gf and I had issues toward the end and I believe it is a lot easier to study for the exam if everyone is on the same page versus there being tension. The exam experience is tension enough.

    AUD - 76
    BEC - 75
    FAR - 79
    REG - 84

ixlr82day you make a valid point. I need to figure something out in that regard.

This test has me very self absorbed and just out of it. Maybe I'll try and find her a spa day package somewhere

While you have been successful in 3 passes i think you should consider these in your post fail assessment and please keep in mind that i failed multiple, multiple multiple times before successfully passing in q3:

There is nobody at NASBA or the AICPA or state board that is out to get you; the only person that is stopping you is yourself. this is a common theme i see on these boards and frankly, it's the wrong attitude to take when you face failure. (Not only this test but in life in general) Even if it's the 1st or 15th time at the end of the day you did not do enough. Period.

Whether it was mcq's/notes/sims people who fail these exams need to realize they fell short in an area. Go with the adage that jeff says, just because you scored a 74 doesn't mean you were 1 question away; you could have been multiple points away. you really should be asking yourself if you did everything you could to prepare, take a deep and honest assessment of your study habits and hone in on your weak points. If your strategy is that you'll just repeat and hope for good luck the next quarter then you are just going to fail again. And just as a personal example, my grandmother passed away the day before i took bec. I ended up failing BEC with a 71 and while it's easy to blame her death on that failed score i knew that was not the case and i did not do enough to prepare myself for the test. So what did i do? I attacked BEC harder than ever and worked on those weak points while not losing the stuff I already knew and i ended up passing it a couple months later with an 88. That wasn't luck with an exam, that was hard work.

Luck is opportunity meeting preparation and not just some blind faith in NASBA. Wallowing away if some agency or higher up is out to get you is a waste of time and energy.

@wanna B that's awesome that you're already back in the saddle with a game plan to get things done. I'm trying to talk myself into motivation but it's a struggle.

I took AUD and FAR 2nd time for AUD, 4th time for FAR and didn't pass either and now I've lost BEC too. Basically, I'm further away from finishing now than I was last year at this same time. I don't think I've got it in me to do more…REG expires in May.

Don't want to get on the score release bandwagon, but I took FAR/AUD in April/May, didn't get my score until August. I paid for the exams again, but three weeks to take an exam wouldn't work – the testing centers were packed so I could have taken the exam in like one week which I didn't think would be possible or travel to another state to take the exam which wouldn't work either bc I didn't have any leave left at my work and just paid more $$ for retakes and exam materials. I've spent nearly 5 months waiting for exam scores, but my state doesn't think that gave me a disadvantage.

    So I agree, it's BS 🙁

I'm going to be the person who says "I finished even though..." not the person who says "I didn't finish because..."

    B - 77, 76

I went from 60 to 78 on FAR by realizing that I knew absolutely NOTHING about governmental or non-profit accounting. After reading the Wiley chapter notes for the first time, there was one long example of budgetary entries that really helped on the exam.

Again, my approach is to just make sure you know a little more than last time, that's the only variable you can control.

I took Audit in October and FAR in December. The whole waiting for scores really threw a wrench into my entire studying timeline. I spent more time waiting for my scores than studying so I would not lose credit for Reg, but I got a 73 on Audit, which I felt more confident about than FAR. Now I have Audit and FAR before BEC expires during busy season so its back to the books!

Also the whole paper and pencil thing is ridiculous. I did not even know that it was an option until a couple of days before my exam because they were so against it a couple years ago. Also I have horrible test anxiety like Eminem from 8-Mile “my knees weak…palms are sweaty…there's smudges on the white boards already” so having the paper and pencil would have been very helpful. I looked on the forums here and some members said they had emailed to request the paper and pencil a few days before their exam and were able to get them despite the two week window, but when I tried to do the same I got shut down. Doesn't seem fair at all to me.

    AUD - 73

    I wanted to chime in.

First and foremost REG is very, very difficult – especially if you have limited knowledge about Tax. The REG Sims were by far the hardest for me bc they were so random and complicated. The Sims were nothing like your traditional accounting Sims in FAR with debits and credits (easier points).

Second, don’t believe all candidates who say “I left 3 or 4 Sims blank (or guessed) and still passed.” You would literally need to get all of the MCQ’s and the other 4/5 Sims nearly perfect – no lie. I’m sure there are a couple candidates where this is true, but it is not true for the majority. You pretty much need to get at least 60-70%+/- of the MCQ’s and TBS’s to pass. Of course there is some variability, but I’m pretty sure my estimate is fairly accurate. However, the AICPA is not transparent, so you never know.

I’m not trying to call anyone a liar, but what is true for one person may not be true for another. Also, my estimates are based of my passing scores and how I “believe” I did (cannot verify 100%).

This exam is a test of hardcore discipline, insane sacrifices, brute studying, mental toughness and booksmarts.

Goodluck everyone and try to enjoy the Holidays! You CAN and you WILL pass!! Don’t let the AICPA make you think otherwise!!!!

I agree with you. But the 1348 year wait for test scores this last year only added insult to injury. This test isnt to certify the best accountants. If it were they would try and fix the fact that the CPA is losing relevance. This test to make money for NASBA and the AICPA. It is also to trick the public into trusting accountants after Enron. Nothing more nothing less

    B - 76 A - 76 R - 84 F - 75. Passed by the skin of my teeth!
