My favorite was my mom’s text message this morning–“Sorry. I was hoping it did not post when i didn’t hear from you. I still love you”.

To which I responded– “good to know your love isn’t contingent on me passing.”

What other things have people said to you all?

    REG-80, 77, 77

    AUD-58, 62, 72, 74, 74, 75
took 5 years but I'm DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My grandmother told me, “Well, you'll eventually pass, hun.”

My dad told me, “You know your step-mom's sister didn't pass the first time around. Took her 2 times until she passed.”

My husband told me, “A 73 is a good score.” That actually made me feel pretty good.

    LOL.

I haven't even taken an exam so I haven't failed one but everyone on my dad's side of the family is saying “You know there are a lot of people who don't pass the first time” which is kind of annoying because they are comparing me to my aunt that took ONE exam and gave up lol. Then, I'll mention how tough it is and my sister will say “You've been studying FOREVER (5.5 weeks for FAR) and I'm sure you'll pass it” This is equally as annoying because you could study for an entire year and not pass the exam….

So I just failed an exam for the first time and I was asked by two people “So, do you have to take it again?”

No, if you fail you still get to become a CPA without retaking it…

Every time I saw my grandpa he would say; “are you still studying that CPA s*** (with anger)?” To which I would reply, “yes”

He would then say; “I'm getting tired of you studying all the time. It makes my back hurt.”

Interesting…I had no idea my studying somehow slipped a disc in people's backs.

My mom asked, “so, what happened?”

My wife said, “were you really studying, or just skipping out on family stuff with my parents and watching football?”

I got an 86 on FAR and one of my coworkers says – don't feel bad you shouldn't compare yourself to “S”. (“S” who works in my office got a 91) Really???? This is coming from someone who took the exam years ago – failed – and never took it again. ugh.

It doesn't really bother me when people ask questions when I'm waiting for my scores – I think people are just trying to be polite and mention it if they knew you were trying to study.

What does irk me – before each exam my mother in law has 20 questions. I know she is trying to be nice but asking “Do you think you will pass this time” just rubs me the wrong way haha.

All the guys I work with are not CPAs nor are they studying for it. So I try to keep it from them when I am taking exams because they get ammunition when they know I fail. I know they are joking but I get the feeling that they, and many other people, think to theirselves “I can't believe he didnt pass, I know I wouldn't have failed x amount of times”.

Once I was explaining to a friend of a friend about the exam and how I just can't get myself to sit down and study the material. So she responded, “just sign up for it next week, and then you'll HAVE to study for the rest of the week.” I'm sorry, it takes me a lot longer than a week to study for the exam. No matter what I said to her, she kept insisting that I just “do it.”

I always get the, “you're smart, you did fine.” NO, I didn't do fine!

    R - *77*(02/'13)-Becker & NINJA
    A - 71('11); *87*(04/'13)-Becker & NINJA
    F - *76*(08/'13)-Becker & NINJA - "server upgrade" survivor
    B - 60('11); *82*(10/'13) -Becker & NINA

    DONE, DONE, AND DONE.

    CPA in Massachusetts; issued 01/24/14

People don't understand that this isn't like an average test. You can't just look over the material and show up and hope to pass. I understand you could do that in undergrad…and guess what…I could too! But these tests are not like that! I can see why people who haven't been through this can think that though.

@ CPA Driven, wow that is really harsh! An 86 is amazing, especially for FAR. That would really make me mad if someone said that to me. No one at work has asked me my scores, they just ask if I passed or not. I don't have bad scores, but I don't offer them up because I don't want to be compared to anyone. Well of course my FAR score was bad because I did happen to fail it lol.

Haven't rec'd a failing score yet (only took two exams so far though). But during the wait period i always hear the following:

    -dont worry, you passed

-i felt the same way when i took mine, you're good

-if you feel like you failed then you probably did well

    -i have faith in you

    -you did fine
