To which I responded– “good to know your love isn’t contingent on me passing.”

mmilito, really? Nobody I know has even HEARD of the CPA exam, let alone be aware that most people fail it the first time.

Most people I know have no clue about the accounting profession, like when I said I was getting my B.S. in Accounting they would immediately ask “so you'll be a CPA?” as if the degree and the CPA designation are one and the same.

AHAHAHAHA, ya'll are cracking me up with your stories!! I'm glad we have a thread here where we can laugh about all ‘The s*** your friends, fam, coworkers and in some cases neighbors (really??) say about the CPA exam'

Maybe when someone says ‘I knew you would pass or I know you will pass' respond with ‘I'm sure that's what the 60% of people who failed heard too' or something to that effect. I don't really get too bothered by people and their annoying comments because they can't help that they are not accountants and don't really grasp the craziness and difficulty of the exam. If it weren't for sites like this though, I'd probably wanna snap some necks after hearing too many annoying comments haha

Lets not overlook the gems people say when we tell them we passed (although we are too euphoric to give it a 2nd thought)

My FAVORITE is “Its JUST LIKE….” (when my son took his SAT's, when my sister tried to CLEP out of Comp I, when I took the nursing assistant exam) “and I was scared, but of course I passed”

or (my personal favorite) “you dont know how LUCKY you are not to be taking it in the paper and pencil days”

and lets not forget “I told you that you worried for nothing!”

I love my pops, but every time when i walked out and called him, “how do you feel about it” … bugged the crap out of me

then when I failed…

My boyfriend's dad is the worst for me. He is a smart guy but lays cable for a living so it pisses me off when he talks down to me about the test. I just want to say “I'm sorry that you feel like a failure for not pushing yourself to reach your full potential because you were too scared to find out what you are or are not capable of but lay the F off!”

He makes comments like ‘when are you going to pass the damn thing' or ‘shouldn't you be done by now' or ‘how hard can it really be, i know tons of people that do that'. It is so rude! I just want to tell “Ah I like failing…it is funny studying for hours on end and failing over and over again just so we can have our chats about how I failed yet again!”
