Blegh. How ironic that I got a 71 on FAR (my first test ever) and am posting on a site called Another71… This feeling stinks. Concentrating at work today will be difficult. After my Audit test on 7/16, how long do you think I should take to restudy for FAR? Does 6-8 weeks sound good, not enough time, or is that overkill? I really want to finish these before the exam changes in April.

On a side note, congrats to all of you that passed!

PASSED FAR WITH A 75! OMG I'M DONE WITH THE CPA EXAM!!! I can't believe it. Glory be to God! Thank you Jesus!

You cannot have success without failure. Success is hard. If it was easy, everyone would do it. But it's the "hard" that makes it great!

@vandanajm What a relief. I do know that when I checked the FAR score I logged in to the website a bit later in the day, perhaps it was updated by then. Thanks so much for the info!

By the way, I see that you passed Reg and are done! CONGRATS to you and everyone else who passed!

@jad11 I have the same situation and I called California Board of Accountancy 5 mins ago they said the system runs slower and asked me to wait.

@Ta_Rule: Sorry to hear that. I just got my results for my first exam ever (FAR) and I got a very disappointing 66.
I kind of knew I didn't pass since I ran out of time on the Sims big time but I guess I would be lying to myself if I said I didn't have a little bit of hope. I honestly feel like my motivation just went out the door. I studied so hard (3 months) an average of 20 works per week. I will be taking BEC in five weeks and guess I'm back to FAR afterwards.

Congrats to everyone who passed!! Can I get some advice on how those of you who have passed studied? I am using Roger CPA Review. I feel his lectures are very helpful but his Sims are useless. Hence, why I underestimated them before the exam and ended up running out of time. My boss keeps telling me to forget about the lecture videos and focus only on doing the multiple choice questions over and over again. I didn't take her advice because I just felt like I had to watch the videos, otherwise I would feel completely lost when trying to answer the multiple choice questions. Now I'm wondering if I should take her advice?

@GSD512: Sorry to hear about your FAR score. It was definitely the hardest I have ever studied for a test in my life. My motivation has definitely dwindled for the time being as well, and it is difficult to be positive right now, but we can both do this!

How long do you plan to take to re-study for FAR? Also, good luck on BEC in 5 weeks!

@300-CLUB in my experience, the credit up top shows up same day, just a bit later. I wouldn't worry about it, the score posted won't change. Just takes them some time to post up the credit.

@GSD That's the consensus do the mcq's until you drop. So many has had very good luck with that approach so why not. I thought the same thing but I was trying to read the book, get aggrevated and change the my method, get behind, get frustrated and go back to the mcq's. So I'm just doing mcq's and taking notes on the ones I get wrong and really don't know how to get the answer. Your boss might be right (for a change)

@TA_Rule: Yes, we can do this!! I just hate the fact the everyone at work will soon be asking me how I did and I'll have to tell everyone that I fail. They are very supportive but honestly I just feel a little embarrassed.

I'm thinking I will be studying for FAR for 4 weeks. Hopefully that will be enough. I feel that if I study longer, I might overwork myself with that section. Good luck with Audit! I hated my audit class in college so I know I will struggle with that section but a lot of people claim it is one of the easier sections.

So how are you studying? I feel like my score did not reflect the effort and time I put into studying so I don't know if I'm studying incorrectly. I watch the lecture videos and then do multiple choice for that section. For FAR, since it was so much info, every few weeks I would do a little review by doing multiple choice questions that covered every single section.

I've only studied for BEC for one week so at this point I'm wondering if I should just focus on FAR since all the material is fresh. I honestly think this is what hell must be like! Haha!

@tncincy: You're right, I might have to try that for a change. I guess I didn't take her advice because she passed her exams over 10 years ago so I'm pretty sure things are very different.

I think at this point, my best course of action would be to reschedule BEC for August since I have only invested a week of my time to that section and go back to FAR now while all the info is fresh and do multiple choice questions until I puke.

@GSD512 I used Roger too, and I think it has been helpful to watch the lectures once, mainly for the exposure to the material and to have a basic idea of the subject matter before reading and doing questions. I think the repetition of exposure to material helps, but mainly practicing the MCQ and simulations will help you pass, since that is what you have to do on the test, and also probably why they recommend doing the questions at least 2 times. Don't give up! Everyone responds differently to whichever study method, so just find what works best for you!
