    I take AUD tomorrow (the 10th) and I’m already dreading the wait. I took my last test (BEC) on the first day of the window and had to wait six weeks, so I’m over with the waiting already!

    @dislcpa – I definitely read the book and took notes. I have the unfortunate luck of learning things by writing things down. I probably re-wrote the entire book. As far as Yaeger, the instructors really emphasized what would be on the test. If they tell you to skip a section skip it! Anytime they tell you a rule and then say “EXCEPT WHEN” be sure to memorize that and know the exception. I found that the exam tested all of the exceptions more than the actual rules. The only multiple choice questions I did were the ones at the end of the chapters and only the ones that they assigned. Trust me I was skeptical but it worked. They also said for every hour of lecture you need about 4 hours extra to study the material they went over and I found that to be accurate.

    @bigcore – It took me 3 months to study for the FAR exam. There is no way I could have done it in 5 weeks. There is just no way.

    @dislcpa
    – I also forgot to mention I did the CRAM that yaeger offers. I did that for a week before the exam. You don't really need it if you re-do all of the m/c questions at the end of the book. I will have to think about paying for that next time. I'm not 100% sure it was worth it. Although I can't be sure lol

    I am using Yaeger too and supplementing with Ninja MCQ. It has done me good so far and the price is great in comparison to Roger and Becker. I recommend it and found it extremely helpful for BEC.

    @big honestly that is all the time I have to study with the way my work load and home life is. I am not giving up so don't say things like that to me you know nothing about me. I was upset and down but I am back up. If I was able to get a 21 point increase on my BEC score with the same amount of study time I can get passing. Unfortunately I have to work for my family and to pay for this test so if that is all the time I am left with then I have to make it work.

    @studynow I looked it up online and you get a lot of stuff for the price. I am probably going to purchase it for my BEC retake. I am taking the rest of this month off and going to schedule BEC at the end of Jan. Thank you for the information and help.

    @dslcpa Hang in there, there is no need to throw in the towel now, get a better study plan maybe? I have been attempting this exam for a while, I have not passed a section yet, but I am determined to do it. I have the ninja products and am clearing out my schedule for real solitude to get real study done. I realized the last three exam fees I wasted with failing was due to not putting enough time and dedication into studying (somebody said already). I am not a face book, twitter socialite so I don't have that battle, but making studying important is a must is what I have learned, so I hope you will rethink quitting, take a small break, get a new plan, utilize all the materials you have and pass. I am at a cross roads decision as well with my current situation, I realize I CANNOT go on with my career as an Accountant/sole proprietor if I do not pass the CPA, so pass it is ( goal within the next 6 months). And I know I do not want some minimum wage job with the education and experience I have, but I need that CPA.
    I enjoy reading the I am done posts to gain strength and incentive…..I hope this is at least a start to help you reconsider. Going in with BEC early January, yes I am behind, but I will do what's necessary to pass.

    @DISLCPA don't give up, if you want to be a CPA, nothing can stop you. My suggestion would be to make some changes to your studying style/location (maybe a park?library?). I learn by writing and by repetition. I used Gleim for FAR and the course instructions said to follow a particular method – 1 practice test of 30 mcqs, audio/video lectures, read text, second practice test of 30 mcqs, and then two more practice tests of 20 mcqs each. This was what Gleim recommended. While that may work for the majority of people who've provided feedback to Gleim about their performance, it didn't work for me. What I did was to take notes on a chapter, do chapter mcqs, take notes again for the ones I got wrong, did more mcqs, took more notes, I kept going on with this strategy until I had either answered all available questions on the chapter or was getting 80-90% on each practice test. So find out what works for you. If I could give you one piece of advice it would be to do as many mcqs as you can. Practice mcqs until you fall asleep on your desk, then get up and do some more. And take more than 5 weeks for each section, 5 weeks is nothing. Good luck!

    @dislcpa – can I suggest perhaps taking a bit longer to study? Some people swear by the “study in the span of 4-5 weeks so you don't forget” approach, but those are also the people that are capable of studying 8-12 hours on each weekend day and 3-4 hours each night. If what you are able to dedicate is ~20 hours a week, as it seems, then extrapolate that to the amount of weeks it takes to achieve the recommended amount of hours and then add a couple of extra weeks to cram with a review style approach. It sounds like there were about 60ish total hours dedicated to Audit. I may be in the minority, but that section alone took me about 120-130 hours of study time. If I wasn't the type of person that retains a lot upon first read, I might have even tried adding another 20-30 hours for review.

    Your increase in BEC alone tells me that you're capable of getting there – I say go for it!

    @tncincy, Good to see you! You tackling any of these in Q1?

    @dislcpa
    Please do not give up, you will get over the hump eventually. It just takes longer for some us, but you will start believing once you get that first pass!

    @hasy
    Congrats on being done!

    @dislcpa, I disagree with the person who said you are not studying enough. 4 hours is plenty on Saturday and Sunday. But, it has to be 4 hours of “heavy lifting.” Listening to audio recordings is not studying, unless you are making very detailed notes, and writing down the concepts in your own terms. Better to write notes once in your own words than to re-write someone else notes 3 times, in my opinion.

    I would try to find a Becker textbook and study from that.

    @mtalylo24, yes, going into January with BEC, according to the new test info, BEC and REG will be changing so I decided to start there. I have and am using ninja materials….I am loosing interest in the videos…I have a few days left on them and was debating whether to renew them or just get a book. I have the ninja mcq's as well. I purchased them when I purchased my nts, it took so long to get my nts that I didn't get started studying immediately…..but I'm in long story short. Fingers crossed…..very open for suggestions
