@Future I think your comment was out of the place, we understand what you mean but I don't think “book smart” applies for the CPA exam. It has really nothing to do in how well you are with books or not because this exam is a completely different thing. I say this because I have always had good scores at school (I think you would say “book smart”) and this exam is of discipline more than “exceling” anything.

CPA exam is a bunch of discipline and time involved here. You can never judge the smartness (in books as you imply) of one person based on scores, no for CPA.

The CPA itself, doesn't do that: you pass or not, period. No score is stated in your title.

As per Baxter, the fact of be persistent is what is amazing of her. MANY people “book smart” as you call are not even daring to take this exam because of the effort it involves.

All that said, Congrats to Baxter.

For the record, I am well aware that some people laugh or make jokes because I sat so many times. You wouldn't believe the mean and hateful things people have said to my face with a smile or chuckle like that is supposed to make it ok. When I first started this process, I remember a young lady who sat over 20x and I remember thinking “God love her…but that won't be me”. I was a little cocky because I know I am a smart person. If I had known the many obstacles I would have faced I probably would've hid under a rock for the rest if my life. It started as a dream and evolved exam by exam by exam.

No one knows what the future holds or how your CPA exam journey will unfold. The only thing that is important is that you never give up. So let's cut Future some slack and wish him well on his journey. It would make me happy to see him pass all four parts on the first try.

So, I thank everyone for their kind words of support and congratulations but it is time to let this thread pass on.

Future if you were indeed book smart you would have caught the part about Baxters health issues which probably would have bedridden the “average” person. Even the most book smart people can't always overcome physical illness to just ace a test.

You'd also be bright enough to realize that if you need to qualify a statement saying “this wasn't meant to be offensive” you already realize it IS offensive.

    You're welcome.

    Baxter, hats off to YOU!
