    Hi guys,

Is there anyone from India who was able to obtain a CPA license in CA? Did they accept your experience in India? If not, how did you manage to get experience in the US?

    Any input would be helpful!

Thanks a lot for your time!

    Shwetha,

Based on the rules the California CPA board has published on their website, they require work experience under a person with an active CPA license. Did you work under a U.S.-licensed CPA in India? If not, I do not think it will count, but obviously it won't hurt to check with the board directly. I frankly have never heard about foreign experience counting towards the required work experience hours for a license in CA or any other state.

Does your dependent visa allow you to work in the country, or would you need to apply for an H1B? If the latter, it somewhat complicates things – as you probably know, the competition for getting a work visa is insane.
