It used to be about 3 months. Anyone know if that’s changed? Thanks!

@hopefulcpa Congrats!!! When was your application sent to the board?

    AUD - 93
    BEC - 90
    FAR - 86
    REG - 93

The wait for the test scores seems more stressful than the actual test itself.

You're welcome. Also did you send an e-mail to the board itself at cpabd@nysed.gov or did you e-mail the application status e-mail opunit3@nysed.gov ?

cpabd@nysed.gov, they sent the emailing telling me they reviewed and approved everything.

then they directed me too contact the opunit3@nysed.gov‘s email about when the license number would be issued.

oh ok cool. I sent an e-mail to the board and they said they are up to 10/18 applications, but you application was sent 10/19. So doesn't really make sense, but I guess I have to take their word for it.

    @lexus423

They told me that if my supervisor's principal place of business was NY, but the license was granted in another state, then, my experience under that person is not valid unless the supervisor applies to NYS to become certified in NY. Then, and only then, my experience would be valid.

I talked to my supervisor and this was done. Now I called the board again to see if they received the paperwork and depends on who you talk to, I am getting different answers. Some say I do not know, some say your supervisor has to send another form 4B once the NYS license is granted (this makes no sense) and another one says you will be processed immediately once your supervisor's paperwork is completed.

I am feeling so confused… Does any of you have heard or know of any similar situations with the board?

    Thanks much.

So just completed the exam and sent in all the documentation on my part to NY state. I am still waiting on some of my experience to be sent in by some of my previous employers.

How does this process work? Can you check online somewhere the status of your application? What happens if they do not accept some of your previous experience? Sorry for the all questions but I'm knew to this lol

The only thing you can check online is whether you have a license number yet or not.
The process is long and grueling. I believe your file will be held until all the 4B's are submitted and approved, then your file moves along to the board for approval. Figure 16+ weeks perhaps from when everything is submitted.
If they do not accept your experience then I think you will be notified that you need additional 4Bs before your file can proceed.

@CPAshoes08 when were you contacted about this? After your file went to the board or before during general processing? I may face a similar issue.

What does the board actually do? Are the 4B forms verified by the board? My file is currently with the board but my experience includes work from Canada signed off by a US CPA. I'm wondering if I should call them and ask them if there may be an issue even though they haven't said anything yet.

Does the timeline you guys discuss here apply once the file is sent to the board or when you actually sent in the paperwork? I sent my stuff in last November but only just moved to the board since they were doing a comparative analysis of my canadian education.

@Tk3513 Last I heard from NYS is that they were still on 10/18 applications as of last Friday. I think a lot of applications was sent around our dates because I sent my application the day after finding out my passing Q3 exam scores so I assume a lot of other applicants did the same. I am getting more and more anxious to get my license especially as tax season is close to revving up.

Hopefully we get some good news in a day or so.
