An update/FYI for all of the New York State CPA hopefuls…

I passed the Exam in February 2012 and my final application and experience paperwork got to the New York State BoA on April 13, 2012. After multiple inquiries and hearing the wait time stretch from 4-6 weeks to 6-8 weeks to more than 8 weeks, I finally received a license number on July 17, 2012. The BoA has one person evaluating experience forms.

I should receive my parchment in 2 weeks or 4 weeks or more than 4 weeks.

I am very happy to be an official CPA in the great State of new York!!

I sent my forms 4 & 4b the week of 8/13. I've e-mailed them a week later and they told me they were opening mail from 7/16. A few week later I e-mailed them again and they told be the process is 6-8 weeks. Still haven't heard anything. Wondering if I should e-mail them again. Not sure what's worse, waiting on a score or waiting for your license!!!

@mycpa – I believe form 1 & 2 were mailed in when you first applied for your license, before you were able to sit for any exams.

Yes I do remember paying a fee. I only listing the passing grades. I don't think they care about your failing grades.

I just received an e-mail from NYS. They told me they are processing applications from 8 weeks ago and if it's been longer than 8 weeks since I mailed in my forms 4 & 4b to call them. They included in phone number.

Question on timelines with New York State. I passed the exam back in May, but I had to get to 150 credits, so I ended up taking 18 credits this summer all-online to get to 150. I had my Form 1, 4 and employer 4B sent over July-August. NASBA wouldn't release my scores to New York until I got to 150 credits, after sending the final transcripts to NASBA in August, NASBA sent scores to New York. Then I called New York Education Department to make sure they got all forms needed two weeks ago, they then said they never received Form 2 and my education, (even though the instructions on Form 2 did not apply to me, and hence I never sent it in initially) I was told I had to send in with transcripts with form 2 attached. Why does then New York State and NASBA both require education requirements to be sent, it does not make sense? Isn't NASBA supposed to evaluating transcripts. So I sent in all transcripts 2 weeks ago after my initial phone call, and when I called up today they said it would take up-to 8 weeks to evaluate education and then up to 12 weeks for the board to approve my experience, What is everyone's timeline on getting all this approved and finally receiving your license. I am so frustrated that this is taking so long, I figured I would of had my license by now at the latest, and seems like I'm another 20 weeks away per NYS.

I officially received my NYS CPA License today !!! I mailed in the paperwork in 9/18/12, I hope thats helps those that are waiting. Man does this feel good. Good luck to those still on the journey, it's worth every grueling minute.
